Dear fabbers, I need your help and advice. I don't post much but read, enjoy, and learn a lot from all of you.
Saturday, I will be going to friends 50th year renewal of marriage vowels at a church in Augusta,Georgia. It is in the evening and I have a dress and all accessories in place for it.

They are going to take all out of town guests out for a late lunch at 2:00PM. Most of the out of town people will arrive in Augusta on Friday and check into she same motel. I can not go until Saturday, but will be staying at same motel. I will be driving for about 3 hours from western North Carolina, but probably cannot check into motel before the lunch to change clothes. After lunch will check into motel and change clothes for the ceremony at church.

I will go directly to their home, and all guests will go to restaurant. Do not know for sure but I believe restaurant might be Italian and rather casual.

Finally, here is my question. What do you think I should wear for the
lunch? I realize you have no idea my style. I have no idea how to post.
I have a new, very casual dress this spring. It is two tone denim shirt dress, Vince Camuto, from Nordies, medium blue with lighter collar cuffs,pockets, . You may have seen it on YLF.

Other than this dress, I have 2 nice, stylish cigarette pants, one pair is solid medium brown. The other is black with white floral. When you get the rest of this story you are going to think WILD. I have ankle jeans in white, black, a new pair of pretty pink denim.
Most of the other people are from the north around Janets's area. Very sharp dressers. I want to dress appropriately. I think my style is pretty much like Angies's friend, lovely Karen. The rest of the story: I am 82. I hope I do not dress like an "old woman". Appropriate, but fun. Thank you

Bridgie, you are going to have a hectic day and it will probably be hot in Georgia. Wear what will be the most comfortable. You might avoid light colors if the food is Italian. It can be messy to eat. Have a safe trip and a wonderful time.

Is it possible to ask your friends what would be appropriate? The dress sounds nice for lunch & as you are going by car you could take a couple of extra outfits for "just in case". Have fun

Lots of rain supposedly coming through GA next week. Temps, though, look okay...low 80s next weekend (we're in the 90s now).

If it were me, I would choose the black and white cigarette pants, a nice top, a trench coat and shoes that will survive the puddles. Augusta is a fairly casual place, but the ladies do like to dress up when they have a special event.

PS., don't forget to allow extra drive time in the rain.

My first inclination would be the dress, as I think it might be cooler to wear. (Even with rain, 80 degrees sounds plenty hot to me.) And my second thought is to wear whatever will survive the car trip the best--i.e., will wrinkle less or show wrinkles less. So that might be the black and white patterned pants. And come to think of it, black and white is such a crisp, summery look, too! I might go with those. Floral is pretty and has a festive feel--to me the floral pants seem very appropriate to the occasion.

I'm inclined towards the black and white floral pants too. I'm thinking they're fairly light weight, so not too uncomfortable for a long car ride and pretty for the lunch. And I'm thinking of there's any a/c to contend with, pants might be nicer too.

Sounds like so much fun!!

They are sound like great options. I have a soft spot for denim and I do like the sound of the dress. I don't remember seeing it but it sounds like something that could work for a casual dressy event. Shoes and accessories will change the feeling of the dress.

I'm from North Carolina and I have quite a few friends from the North East. My suggestions echo Carter, Firecracker, and RachyLou. Pants are always my tried-and-true go-to item for all events, except funerals. They always feel appropriate to me. Travel safely and have fun.

Sounds like a fun weekend! My first thought was also the black and white pants. It seems like they would be easy to dress for if it's warm and then have a third piece for air conditioning. But the denim dress might be most comfortable for the car ride.

I suggest whatever will withstand the car trip most easily. Probably the black and white print pants. These will not show the creases as much and you can adjust your top depending on the temperatures. It sounds like a lovely weekend, and I hope you have a wonderful time!
