Desktop PC, notebook, phone or...?

On the heels of the TV thread, what device do you use when you are online? How much time you spend on your phone?
I don't have other computers but my IPad. I do everything on that thing and often carry it with me around the house, also I travel with it. I switched probably more than 10 years ago. I don't use my phone at home and not much outside. I never check social media on my phone. My DH uses mostly his IPad at home and uses his phone as well and carries it with him at all times. We have one desktop PC for my DH photography. Last time I was using it probably in 2015! I have a notebook at work.

I use my old iPad for reading books and magazines, my (also old) phone for social media, email and texting (and playing solitaire ) , and my MacBook Air laptop (also old) for banking and reading my bookmarked websites (including this one) at home . I'll be sorry when my laptop dies because I won't be replacing it. They are crazy expensive now, and I really can't justify it anymore without a job that requires it. I use a desktop at work.

Phone. I spend hours on it. Reading, surfing, texting, checking stuff. My laptop I use for work, personal business, medical stuff. Oh and also, my phone is my pancreas

My iPad usage and iPhone usage is just like yours. I’m almost exclusively iPad. I’m on my second iPad. Got the first one as a Christmas gift 2012.

I do use my phone like a camera and take a lot of photos. I don’t use the phone like a phone, except when travelling, and often it sits unused for most of the day. If I’m expecting communication from DH or the DS’s via text, I’ll carry the phone. I got the phone because the family wanted me to have a way to communicate when I was taking the train into work, and when I was out cycling on country roads by myself. I got my first phone summer of 2014.

RunCarla, yes, our usage of a cell phone is very similar. I also use it for returns to stopes I think I’m on my third iPad. Don’t know I lived without it before! It’s been a life changing device for me.

Desktop, laptop, iPad and iPhone, and that's just me. DH has two desktops in different locations, several laptops, an iPad and iPhone, and we both have Kindles.

A wonderful discovery for him--Kindle makes several typefaces that work for dyslexia. He got one and wow! what a difference.

Mr. M. was an early adapter. We'd been married about 6 months when, in the week he had between semesters (his last year undergrad) he spent most of his time with the mainframes in the basement of the business building at USC learning how to program whatever ancient computer language it was back then. This was January 1964. I remember the day in the early '90s he told me about this wonderful new thing: the Internet.

Enough ancient history. I try to keep up with him, but find I only need one of each.

I am an iPad girl too.l generally only use my phone for messaging these days.

I use a laptop with large plug-in screen and wireless keyboard and mouse at home and at work.

Out and about I use my phone. I take my laptop on trips (without the peripherals) but honestly I seldom get it out.

For reading books it's my Kindle all the way.

I use my iPhone like Rachy. I carry it with me everywhere. I use a 27” iMac in my home office for work as well as for paying bills, researching home projects, streaming movies, and general surfing. I use my laptop when I travel, in much the same way that I use my iMac. I also have an iPad, but rarely use it.

My husband has his own suite of Apple products that his uses in his work.

We were early adopters of Apple computers. I bought my first Mac in 1984 and I still have it!

I’m mostly on my iPhone when I visit YLF and do social media and the like. I take a lot of photos with my phone, I watch streaming video/content on it, and read news, etc.

My laptop is my primary work computer now. For many, many years I relied on a desktop/tower (Mac Pro and all the predecessors, going back to my first Mac purchase in 1990ish, when I was in grad school for graphic design). But now I can do everything I need to do on a Mac Book Pro and an attached large screen monitor. I don’t use that as much for non-work purposes.

I use my laptop almost always. And I'm on it all the time. MacBook Pro.

I use my phone when I'm out and about. And for phoning, obviously. I take a lot of photos on it, too. Use it for maps, trails, audiobooks.

I have a mini-ipad that I use as a Kindle, primarily. It doesn't have cell receptivity.

Irina, I began counting Mr. M's electronics, but he has too many packed away.

I still like to talk about our mighty TRS-80 and the floppy disks.

I have a phone (nearly 8 years old) and work laptop (new, because I recently changed jobs), with dual screen and keyboard when I'm in the office. No iPad, and I haven't had a desk top in nearly a decade, maybe more. Both are used almost all the time, depending on where I am, and whether I want a larger screen and how much I'm typing. I tend to choose smaller phones and lighter laptops, since I'm on-the-go with both so often.

I have a laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad), a tablet (never used), and a phone (Samsung). I also have a Kobo. I am on my third Lenovo laptop. I am pleased with them. Mr. SF has a similar one.
We used to have a desktop, but I think it has died. I never used it.
I use the camera on my phone. When I am travelling, I can manage with just my phone.

I mostly use the iPad for browsing the internet but I will use a Samsung tablet too when I’m travelling because its smaller and easier to carry. My cell phone is mostly used for messaging friends and kids, but I also use the camera a lot.
We do have a desktop from 2008 that’s been updated a few times, but I hardly use it except for occasionally doing some banking.

Phone nearly all the time- and way too d%$" much time at that! I pretty much only talk on the phone to my dad, cause he can't text- but I do everything else on it.

I have an old laptop that I use for writing, room design, games, and adding Finds- but only about once or twice a week.
Even for work I use my work phone for emails, and the laptop only about once a week when I have to do reports and payroll/mileage.

DH uses his laptop for nearly everything.
We haven't had a desktop in over 10 years and don't use tablets.

I mostly am on a desktop. I use the computer station in our kitchen. At work I use a laptop, as I often move around, but I don't surf for entertainment on it. I do surf my phone sometimes, but I usually run into things and think, "I'll need to check that out later (on my desktop)!"

I have a brand spanking new iPhone , a 5 year old Mac book, new iPad and a 10 year old iPad that I use for connecting to my mini Bose speaker for music. I don’t use the new iPad much, I use Mac book and phone.

I use a desktop computer almost exclusively. Occasionally scroll through news headlines on phone while in chemo chair. I keep email off my phone because I don't want to be bothered.

Depends on if I want to be sitting on a desk chair or somewhere comfortable.And what I’m doing.
Desktop for ordering anything, meetings where I want to see more than 8 people at a time, or lectures with art where I want see details. Sometimes for FaceTime. Occasionally when doing a broad clothing search and want to go through a category as fast as possible by seeing the most items at once. Occasionally for surfing. DH uses the desktop for everything but a phone.

I prefer my iPad for most everything else. Although depending on what has charge I will use my phone.

Phone for calls and photos. And surfing when out of the house.
