Gilt is supposedly an invitation only site but it's pretty easy to register without the invitation ~ you submit your info and wait till "a membership spot has opened up" but usually you hear within a day that you're in. If you sign up via an invitation offered by a current member, that member gets a little bonus, IIRC, and you get in right away.
Below are more details about the Target-Gilt collaboration. I personally am chomping at the bit to see what Mulberry does for Target!
"Target is no stranger to high fashion. The company's limited-edition, hugely popular capsule collections have come from the design minds of legends such as Luella Bartley, Proenza Schouler, Jean Paul Gaultier and Rodarte. This fall, the retailer’s high-design lineup is no less stellar, offering apparel by Tucker, bags by Mulberry and home goods by John Derian.
What is new is Target's joining forces with Gilt. For the first time ever, Gilt will be offering an exclusive advance look at select items from all three coveted collections, starting this Friday, August 20, at noon ET.
Pick up a lushly colorful dress by Tucker, the acclaimed label from Gaby Basora, a designer who has been crafting her artful prints since 2005. Then add a kicky cross-body bag by Mulberry, a British heritage brand that's known worldwide for its craftsmanship and classic silhouettes. And bring it all home with the witty, nature-inspired statement housewares by John Derian, New York’s master of decoupage.
Target's celebrated capsule collections are famous for selling out lightning-quick, but with Gilt you don't have to worry about that. Get exclusive early access to these limited-quantity, sought-after styles before everyone else. Because being first is always a good look.
The Target Designer Sale on Gilt starts Friday, August 20, at noon ET."
