I recently bought my first pair of skinnies, and I love them. (I know, just as you are all getting sick of the trend...). They are Old Navy Sweetheart skinnies, and they "grow" as I wear them throughout the day, but not so much that I think I can size down.

Still tiptoeing into the skinnies and colored denim waters, I bought 2 pair of colored denim skinnies at Target. I wore the first ones the other day. They "grew" terribly, and though I could never really get a good look at my backside, they felt wrinkly and saggy there, and I needed to hitch them up. I still don't think I can size down, though.

So here are my questions:
Is this a function of "cheap" denim? For black skinnies I would be willing to shell out the $ for premium denim if I could be sure this wouldn't happen.

I'm not so sure if I'm willing to spend that kind of $ for colored denim, which is likely a fad (at least in these colors of cobalt and teal).

Or is this just a function of the fabrication? The ON jeans are 99% cotton, 1% spandex. The Target jeans are 2% spandex.

I can still return the teal jeans, as they still have tags. Do you think I can return the cobalt ones to Target even though I've worn them, since I'm unhappy with them? I still have the tags and the receipt.

And what do I replace them with? I really want 1 or 2 pair of colored denim, mid-rise, but I just can't justify spending more than about $60 per pair. For the black ones, I can spend more -- also mid-rise, "curvy" fit. I have a mom figure, so please suggest accordingly.

Do I need to wear them around the house with the tags on before I decide to keep them?

Thanks.
