Denim Skirt?

Hi - does anyone have any thoughts about whether and how to wear a denim skirt this summer? I have a fitted denim skirt that I purchased a few years ago. I'm trying to figure out how to update the look, preferably with a harder edge or artsy feel, i.e., with an black or asymmetric top . I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

I like the idea of an asymmetrical top. Maybe something like this EF top, but in black, with some cage sandals.

Hi, Gwen! Is this kind of like a pencil skirt in denim? How long is it? If you can find a picture online of something similar and can link to it, that might be helpful. :^)

I've got one too, dark denim, shortish fitted pencil skirt. I haven't worn it yet this year but I figured I'd try one of two ways, either wearing it instead of dark denim shorts and going super casual with an oversized slouchy tee or sweatshirt and converse, or thinking of it as a dark indigo pencil skirt and wearing it with charcoal, ink or black tops like Thistle suggests and booties or black sandals.
It might not work but I figure it's worth a try on. I think it's the wash that might be the deciding factor.

I haven't given mine away yet, but it's in the car. I tried and tried to make it work and couldn't. Sad for me because I used to really love it and I bought it in Santa Barbara on vacation with both DDs....

If you add the asymetric top and a great pair of currnent edgy shoes it work just fine!

I plan on wearing mine with a lot of logo tops and cut out booties. You know old concert tees very simple and very easy but with that edge maybe also with belts. Sometimes I tuck and when I don't I will do a nice belt to help give shape.

I think a longer top with some volume would modernize it, maybe with an asymmetrical hem, like some others have mentioned?

I'm still wearing my classic shaped - ie not too fitted - denim skirts, but mostly casual on the weekends with a graphic tee and gladiator sandals, that sort of thing. I recently purged the denim pencil skirt I still had; I found I just wasn't wearing it anymore. It didn't feel current.
