Hi everyone. I've been on the hunt for a denim pencil skirt but haven't had much luck. Has anyone seen any this season? Or did I completely miss the boat?
I have the NYDJ *Andy* which is pretty stretchy and doesn't gap at the waist on me. I think the stretch makes it fit and flatter. It is cut different from the NYDJ jeans skirt that comes in colors and is cut much straighter. Like most NYDJ, you have to size down by a size or two. I got mine at least a year ago, so you should be able to find the *Andy* on steep discount.
Yes, JCrew denim skirts are great. I have one that is similar to this http://www.jcrew.com/womens_ca...../65324.jsp but in a different shade of blue and love it. The sale items are extra 30% off (it says "final sale items are 30% off but usually this applies to all sales items).
Try a couple of sizes - I had to size up compared to the size I normally buy in jeans.
I am an apple and had to go up one size compared to my normal denim size (the waist was too tight).
Not sure about hourglass figure - I remember reading that most JCrew skirts (like #2 skirt) are made for rectangles. Don't know what this really means but apparently the skirts were less tapered at the waist than, for example, Halogen seamed skirts.
I had a denim skirt of that type many many years ago, it was a gift. How I hated it! It was very stiff and uncomfortable. My normal walking stride felt uneasy and going up stairs was a problem. I guess there are better made denim skirts nowadays, and stretch denim should help!
