Finally got a moment to comment here! I love you in your ditsy prints! I'm very fond of Liberty prints myself but can't wear the small scale ones like these very well (don't feel authentic to me) so I will enjoy them on you. Especially with your new layered hair! They look amazing with your waves.

My print preferences are classic and simple. Stripes (especially Breton stripes but others as well.) Checks (houndstooth, gingham) and plaids. Some florals or paisleys. Batik style prints. Asian influenced prints. I like pattern mixing a stripe with a floral or two or more plaids.

My main "rule" for prints is that they need to include a bit of white, light grey, or silver -- something to pick up my hair colour. This makes them cohesive on me.

I love a kitty print. (Siamese for the win!).

I find prints so interesting and seeing the individual preferences. I can't imagine Suntiger in Suz's prints or vice versa - yet I love them both.

That's a good link Suntiger!!

Thanks Dee for the interesting discussion - I agree with Brooklyn that denim and ditsy is a good mix - and with your layered hair it all reads modern. Put the ditsy with pearls and a classic bob and it reads quite differently. I have one ditsy blouse and I like it with denim shorts or jeans the most.

Suntiger- Love your prints, they’re so exotic, I don’t wear these kinds of prints myself, I don’t have that exotic persona.
Suz - Interesting on how you look for greys/silvers or whites in your patterns. Now I’ll be watching for it.
Sal- Thanks for you kind words, and a great point about Suz and Suntiger’s print preferences.

I have a pretty wide range of patterns represented in my wardrobe. As a general rule, I gravitate towards stripes and plaids over anything else. I'm always drawn to traditional patterns in not-so-traditional colours. No interest in owning a navy/white mariner at this point -- I've had them before -- and would rather a less expected spin on the classic. I like large scale plaids (think Rob Roy/buffalo) but don't want the classic red/black. White-based ginghams are a little too picnic-y for me, but every now and then I fall in love with a gingham in an edgier, murkier palette. I do like florals, but again, only dark ones. In terms of scale, I tend to go for mid-scale, nothing to tiny/busy but nothing huge and blown-up. Apart from stripes/plaids, I always prefer irregular/scattered patterns over "ordered" ones. I'd love to add more fair isle, but finding ones with colours that grab me isn't always easy.
