Decisions, decisions...What do you think?

I ventured into the mall today for the first time in about a month. I needed to return a blazer, a cardigan, and three belts that I changed my mind about. I decided that I would allow myself to spend no more than the amount I got back because I need to stick to the spring budget I set for myself in December. Well I found two things I'd love to bring home. Unfortunately I can afford one or the other but not both.

The first one is a fuschia blazer. I adore pink! And after scrutinizing some of my wiw photos and researching my recommended colors I realized I shouldn't wear a lot of black next to my face. This would be a great alternative to the black blazer I returned and perfect for my modern-classic style.

The second item is a chunky pearl necklace. I bypassed several cheap (looking) pearl necklaces before this beauty caught my eye. It is gorgeous in person! It seems like I have tons of necklaces already, but I don't have anything this classic. This would definitely kick a few outfits up a notch.

P.S. Another shopper asked for my opinion on which clutch best complemented the dress she was buying. She liked the advice I gave her so much that she sought me out a second time to ask about a belt, shoes, and tights. DH didn't get why this is such a big deal, but I know you ladies understand. Women don't ask other women about clothes and stuff unless they think the person they're asking looks pretty fab and knowledgeable herself. I've sure come a long way!

Well, the two are so different and would serve such different purposes in your wardrobe that it's hard to compare. Do you feel as though either fills a wardrobe hole?

I do love that fuschia blazer. How is the fit? As long as the fit is good, I might opt for that one, since you can always pick up a pearl necklace down the road.

I am with Sarah, I vote blazer because you need one and stated you have plenty of jewlery!

Great questions, sarah! Neither item is filling a wardrobe hole per se. I don't typically wear blazers because they swallow me, but I like the look of them on others and it's something I'd like to try. Unfortunately, the store I visited didn't have the blazer in stock. I've heard this brand runs small, so I'll probably have to order two sizes and return one if I go with the jacket.

I really like the jacket for you. Pearl necklaces are pretty easy to find. I have real one and I hardly ever wear it because somehow it always looks too prim and formal on me. I should have spent that money on clothes! (Oh well, it was an anniversary present from my husband, so what can I do?)

I like them both but think the blazer would defintey be harder to find than another pearl necklace - so I'd vote for the blazer too.

Claire - I use a pearl necklace like that to "staid-up" slightly edgy work-wear or other wear sometimes to make them a bit more acceptable. You might find pairing it with much edgier items looks more interesting because it is unexpected. Maybe denim or leather or just edgier styles?

I agree with the above reasoning about the blazer. It is lovely and may not be available later in the season. The pearls are easy enough to find year round. Loved hearing about your experience with your fellow shopper - so true!

I would also vote blazer. The necklace is great but in my experience, at least, good jackets are much harder to find.

I wasn't that easily able to dismiss the necklace as a wardrobe addition, because it's beautiful and could really be a go-to accessory to glam up any outfit. BUT, jewelry doesn't seem to be as seasonal as clothing is, and this blazer is likely to be gone baby gone if you don't get it fairly soon. And you can always test ride it here for our opinions (though I can't imagine it looking anything less than sensational on you, Jewell--I can already see it making you glow--what a rich, festive but sophisticated color!)

That blazer is really pretty! I would go with it if you absolutely MUST choose and maybe DH would get the pearls for you as a gift? Great that other woman shopper asked you for so much advice. You must have been looking fab!

Thanks for your help, ladies! I'm going to pull the trigger on the blazer. Hopefully the fit is great and I can post a few pics of me styling it on the forum for feedback.

@Meredith- Your suggestion to ask DH for it is a great one! I've already put in my jewelry request for Valentine's day, so I'll need to at least wait until after that : )

@jayne- You will love this! The glass pearls are the prettiest white, and as soon as I get mine I'll be looking through Angie's outfit posts for ideas of what to wear them with.
