My Festive December capsule was dominated by black, white, and red and metallics, so I wore a little grey with silver and tan with gold. I had planned to add something to this capsule but did not as my sister gifted me with some great accessories that were new to me. In the beginning I thought I would miss my black wool beaded skirt and a red wool suit, but have enough without them. For this year, at least, they were too dressy anyway.
I would like to add some warm colored velvet and tomato red pull on pants and pull on gold metallic pants. I am running cold post-menopause and need pieces that will work in cold weather. Everyday I wore 3 main pieces...a bottom (usually pants), a top ( usually a crew neck sweater) and a topper ( which could be a vest, cardigan or jacket). I wore black pants the most, closely followed by blue denim ( These I have more than one pair I can wear, so not a laundry bottleneck.). The top I wore the most was the red Snoopy graphics tee tied with an EF silver tee. Both have short sleeves. Hmmm . Most worn toppers were my white puffer vest and a black leather jacket. Most worn dress was a red sweater dress.
I did not wear green as much as I thought I would or burgundy. That may be that most greens and burgundy are too blue in their tones to feel right. Olive and greens with lots of yellow are better.
Another surprise is that I only wore a JCrew red blazer jacket once. That one I cannot explain. It is the right red but a little big on me.
I wore a scarf nearly every day and earrings and a small crossbody bag.. Going forward, I am tempted to limit my December colors to red, white and black, at least with what I have now. I recently found a consignment store vest...a wild card of tomato red and pale, almost white, on black. I bought it for the December capsule. ( In photo below).
In all I wore 21 pieces for the month, avoiding other neutrals and colors. Now I look forward to wearing navy and brown and any color except red.. At least 5 pieces have been edited out, white wool dress pants and a couple pair of black pants that were interfering with my glucose meter and some sweaters that are too short. Two pair of shoes will probably be out too. They are ok for a couple of hours but feel too short for all day. One is my beloved pewter booties. I will need to replace them. The other is a pair of dressy black patent flats. They might stay for special occasions as they were ok most of the day. What did you like wearing in December?
