In case you all were wondering ... the dress most everyone concurred on worked out very well. I returned from DC yesterday. I was very happy to have been invited (expenses paid, too) by my dad's old oil company to a reception in honor of King Salman's visit. It was a wonderful party, with attendees including the Saudi Minister of Health, and also the Minister of Foreign Affairs . Sadly, I did not have the opportunity to meet the king. He did meet a few of the people who attended; this was limited to those who had met other kings including King Abdulaziz. The king was accompanied by a large group of people and they fully booked the Four Seasons hotel in DC. There are something like 120,000 Saudi students in the US, and many of them were so thrilled to know their king was coming that they hurried to the capital on short notice as well in hopes of meeting him. His time was much in demand. In any event it was great to spend time with a lovely group of old friends from home.
