Hi Fabbers,

I love this Off Topic section and the opportunity to share with one another here:)

Today has been an exciting day. For almost 12 months I have been working with two others (each of us representing our churches) to start up a free community meal for those who are disadvantaged or isolated in our town.

Before I relocated three years ago, this is what I did in my work life. I was the Community Care Director for a large church in Melbourne. My job was to develop and implement community programs. I think it is part of what I was born to do. I loved it. Could have done it 24/7 and it NEVER felt burdonsome.

It was our first day operating and we had a small number of 'guests', served a lovely meal, and had a wonderful team of volunteer workers. Today I felt like I had 'found' a part of me that has been missing. I have come back to the office (yes I had to work today) with a new sense of purpose. It's kind of like slipping on a favourite dress, you know that feeling when you look good in something, it's comfortable, it brings out the best in you, etc... that 's just how I feel now.

And just to tempt you, pics of the meal served today. I know it looks a bit sloppy, but #1 is a lovely chicken and vegetable caserole served with rice, and #2 is dessert a slice of coconut cake, a rumball type thing with two flavoured custards

Thanks for reading
xxx Deborah
