Day 2 working in a Dilbert cartoon

Cubicles and forms for EVERYTHING. My computer did not work and no one expected it to - they were surprised I even had one. Also it has hairs in the keyboard that are not mine. I used a sanitizing wipe on it. And the mouse. Twice. Happily everyone is nice.

Necklace is off Etsy from a lady who makes a lot of movie prop jewelry. She calls those pendants "teeth." They're fun to play with.

The top looks a little hoochy with my arms up but since I'll be sitting all day I think it's OK.

I must admit, I laughed at your subject line - and I laughed some more (horrified laughter) about your keyboard and mouse! Most of all, I laughed, because what you describe is exactly like every office I've ever worked in.

You look great though! You are totally going to raise the style bar in that office.

(And may I note, right now, that every real-life Dilbert boss, will walk in at some point, look at the comic you cut out and stuck on your bulletin board or taped to the top of your monitor, and will laugh, having NO idea he or she is actually the real-life Dilbert boss... the Real-Life Dilbert Boss always thinks you're referring to someone else.)

That corporate America "Oh, wow, you already have a computer? It took two months for me/ so-and-so/ your boss to get a computer. Must be nice!" faux jocularity thing is something I've never gotten used to.

Sorry about the keyboard and mouse. Spill your coffee on it and ask IS for a new one. Seriously. It costs like $5 to replace.

Yuck to the computer, but I am not surprised. It's funny, with how common using a computer is in an office, how difficult it is to get one that works and is not super old. I've never worked somewhere and had my own brand new computer. They are always hand me downs that I scrub like crazy!

Fun necklace and a nice little punch of something unexpected but not over the top. I hope the new job is going well.

I think that looks like a great low-key outfit with some style edge. SO not chino's. I think it is useful that you look comfortable in what you are wearing, as in, you are wearing the clothes, not vice-versa. To me that really gives you approachability in a new workplace, but you can still follow your muse.

Ah, poor thing, a Dilbert cartoon? At least you look great, like always. And at least people are nice. If you run away screaming and aren't heard from again, though, I will assume someone wanted a new cover sheet on your TPS reports.

I had to laugh at your post. I keep a tub of sanitizing wipes in my office and I go around cleaning everything! FWIW, I think you look great, teeth and all!

When I just started and my company was 50 people strong I had computer ready for me on the first day: people are at premium at that size. Now it grew more that twice in size and it takes 1-2 days to have new employees setup with a computer...even though GOOD people are still at premium!
also I quite like how they did cubicles in my office: they have 4 people together without walls in between so it is more like a small room. I like that I can talk to my co-workers just turning around and it seems like more space to breath this way. I hate regular cubicles!
