Dark Chambray Swing Skirt - YouLookFab Forum

I wasn't sure whether to start a separate topic for this:

So I took everybody's advice and tried the dark chambray skirt on again with a more fitted top (incidentally, what I wore today)

While I think it does look a lot better with a fitted top, somehow it still doesn't look as flattering as say, an a-line skirt or a straight pencil skirt on me. Here is a picture of me with the same top on an a-line skirt (incidentally, what I wore today)

But, I'd like to hear what everybody thinks. The skirt only cost me $15.99 so it might even be worth it to keep as a light summer skirt...

And, since I normally always bring a pashmina with me everywhere (with AC blasting on indoors I normally need it!) - here is my outfit for today with my new hot pink pashmina. I really like the orange and hot pink together. Thanks to Mirah who suggested the combination!

I really really love my new cashmere shawl cardigan from Jcrew. I bought it in this colour (Mandarin Orange) and Geranium and they are just so lightweight and flattering and the colours are so nice!

You can also see my new haircut in the pics - not too much of a change this time, since I have a couple of events coming up and wanted to keep my hair classic (long layers) for those but a good 4" came off my hair and I have to say I love it!

I'll probably go for another haircut in July, something maybe a bit shorter and more fun. Choppier as Angie suggested

I've been wearing the chambray swing skirt with the orange cardigan around the house for the past hour and now I'm not sure what to do! I'm starting to like it a bit more but would love hearing what everybody thinks. I think I can be swayed either way

I like the A-line skirt better, but I think that the chambray one works in this combination. Lovely sweater and scarf, by the way!

Somehow I'm thinking that the skirt might work better if there was a waist defining element involved, like a wide belt at the waist or a wrap top .

Tanya your the second person to comment on the need for some sort of waist definition. Perhaps a belt on top of a sweater would work? will continue to play around with this one!

I don't have a wrap top but have been looking for one...that's another good idea...

Much better with a more fitted top. I think you can definitely make it work for you.
And I definitely recommend a wrap top! Wrap dresses too, of course. I usually buy fixed or faux-wraps to avoid the issue of items falling open too much (although the issue isn't solved altogether, necessarily). I just couldn't ever feel completely secure in a wrap dress that wasn't sewn up somewhere, I think. But that's just me.

Aisha, I love the orange and pink! Very cute. Cute shoes, too! I agree with Tanya that I like the A-line better, but this combo looks better with the chambray skirt. The wrap shirt is a good idea too.

Like your haircut! I always feel lighter after trimming that much off my ends!
