I don't know what Dansko did with the Joanie sandal, but it feels softer than the Dansko sandals I got rid of last summer (my physical therapist didn't like them) even with the wooden bottom.
When my toes hurt, I walk differently because I can't stand to bend them. That's where these Dansko shoes should help.
From what I can tell, some but not all Dansko shoes have the APMA seal of acceptance. I assume it has to do with the construction of the sole and footbed. At any rate, I found what I like and then made sure they were APMA accepted. Thankfully, my favorite Dansko boots are okay; no need to get rid of those. I had to do some research to be sure.
