Angie, thanks, that really does help. I had not thought about the juxtaposition angle, but I think that's what seemed so jarring in the fashion-y pictures I've seen. And, conversely, that's what makes them edgy fashion.
I have always enjoyed the deconstructionism of the Belgian school. But, destroyed jeans, revealing a lot of leg as they often do, are so obviously unsuitable for the old (like me) that they make a sexy, rebellious statement for the young only. Makes sense to me.
