Daily or Weekly updates on my SYC Challenge?

Ok people...I need you to be 100% honest here.

The whole point of posting WIW pictures here on the forum is to get advice, tips, suggestions and sometimes a reality check, if needed. I DO want to get better at dressing Comfortably Dressy, but I can't do that alone. What my eye might miss, collectively you all will not. Where I'm afraid to experiment, only you can provide encouragement, or steer me in the right direction.

What I'm saying is this - I do need you lovely ladies to chime in and tell me I'm going in the right direction with my style, or nudge me in the right direction when needed.

So I want to ask - should I do everyday WIW posts, or compile what I wear every week and post together on Fridays? I want more and more of you to provide your inputs because I honestly believe that each and everyone of you bring a fresh perspective to the table. I don't want to miss out on great advice, so I'm asking you to vote ---- Daily or Weekly? What is more comfortable for you? What are you more likely to notice?

Hope you'll let me know, there's hardly any point in posting what I wear if I don't get good advice on how to make it better. I really really value ALL the advice I get here. It's beyond priceless to me. Thanks in advance!

I've tried both daily and weekly. I find weekly easier to post (I only have to find time to edit photos and write about my outfits once a week), but I find daily results in more useful feedback.

So, do what works for you

I prefer a weekly collection, like your most recent post; that way we have outfits to compare within your WIWs and multiple things to give feedback on.

If you want actual feedback, you'll likely get more if you label your posts "Outfit Lab" rather than WIW or "My challenge update."

Thanks everyone. I would like to do what let's YOU guys make the best analysis.

Amiable, I am not sure daily always works. For example, last month I did a What I Wore to Work From Home challenge. There were days I got a lot of great feedback, but somedays I did not. So I wasn't sure of those outfits at all. That's the reason I am asking this question. Basically I just use my phone to click a quick photo and use my phone to also upload and stay connected to YLF, so it doesn't take time at all. Thanks for your input though. Will keep your observations in mind.

I would agree with Liz. Plus.....daily WIW's are more time to click through than I can devote here, so I am way more inclined to look at ones that aren't posted everyday. It's too hard to keep up with that sort of volume. That's just me though.

I think you make a great point, Lisa. I do agree....everyday outfits can be just Too Much to keep up with. Thanks....if I were you, I'd say the same thing. Plus Alasse makes a great point - weekly compilations also makes it easier to compare, evaluate and gauge each outfit against the other.

I like seeing daily WIWs, but if I'm being honest, weekly compilations are way better for getting a sense of an individual's style and seeing what works and what doesn't. I'm going to start doing that next week, I think.

Hmm, I think I am going to be against the tide here and say daily is better for you. The reason being that I'm more likely to give detailed feedback, which it sounds like you want, if I only have to do it for one at a time. I read YLF in little bits, not for a long time all at once, so I do find the once-a-week posts a little more overwhelming if the poster wants detailed feedback on all the outfits. My response to those posts is usually more along the lines of, "I like oufit #x the best." So I think you'll possibly get more responses with a once-a-week post but maybe less detailed or constructive responses.

I generally post whenever I feel like it/have time, so my posts will have anywhere from 1-5 days of outfits in them, but it's more just to share and not to get detailed feedback. If I want detailed feedback or advice I'll post that outfit on it's own and write a more detailed post. I feel like too many questions/analysis on a compliation post just gets too TL;DR, you know?

ETA: To put it another way, I think you should have only 1-2 questions or requests for analysis per post; any more would be overwhelming.

I should say that when people use "outfit lab" as a label, they do have an actual outfit problem they are trying to solve. They don't use it for general "all comments welcome" posts. You can do a forum search for the term "outfit lab" to find some examples.

I have to be difficult - haha - I say 3-4 outfits per thread. So... bi-weekly! But I feel it's a manageable number to view and discuss.

I'm going to be awkward and say how about 2 outfits at a time? I must admit that I find multiple outfit posts with more than 2 or 3 overwhelming and tend to sometimes just say 'x' is my favourite and works best.

If I have more time I can cope with more. So maybe it just says more about how much time 'I' can devote to YLF

For proper, good, detailed feedback my vote is for 1-3 outfits a post. WIW is fine for titling, just mention in the text that you're specifically looking for feedback on improvement. I think the Outfit Lab posts were for specific outfits that posters felt didn't work and wanted to really hash out; in your case it's more of an overarching thing, so WIW seems fine to me.

And I wouldn't worry too much about some daily posts getting more or less comments than others. Some days the forum is just more active, there are many members who aren't on daily or can't go back too far to check on older posts.

See, you'll get a range of answers, and so "it depends", and you might want to be sure you think about what works for you. As Aida, said, some posts get more responses than others. I know I can't begin to keep up, and am just happy when I get some responses from others. It's just the nature of things, and time.
Also, one fun thing to do is to see if you can identify an outfit or two that you really feel great about, and use that as an aspiration outfit, and also post street-style inspiration, or something you'd like to copy, and say, how'd I do. Or even use one or more descriptors of how you want the outfit to "read",--I hear comfortably dressy and maybe that is enough --I have read some by a blogger who used that term and it worked, but still there would be permutations. When you are asking for how to improve, that means different things to different people, so that can both be helpful or confusing!
The nice thing about the suggestions for posting a couple of outfits together is, well, certainly a comparison can be made right then, but it's not overwhelming. Also, the comments don't always have to be "this is better than that" but can be, "this is more this than that".

As Diana has clarified --- more outfits in 1 post might get 'more' response while fewer 1-2 outfits might get lesser response but more 'constructive' response. I'll try to work permutations and combinations and see what works best.
