cute, strappy bralettes for the busty?

Is this a unicorn? I have several shoulder baring tops that are a literal pain to wear with a strapless bra, but would be cute with a bralette if said garment had lace or tiny cute (like double or crisscross) straps. Then it would be fashion, but much more comfortable.

34DD, is the problem. If the thing comes S-M-L, I need a M or L for the cups part, and then band is too big. Any suggestions?

Can't you get a lacey bra instead? 34DD is a common size, and a pretty layer under those tops.

Have you checked gear brands? Lace unlikely but double strap certainly are around. Also 34DD is similar to 36D which may be an easier find.

Angie, fair question, but once you cross the C or D to DD line, most bra companies "beef up" the straps and add hooks to the back and they aren't dainty. It is like the difference between a highly functional sports bra (not cute, but does the job) and the cute fashion ones with fancy tiny straps that go to yoga and show on purpose from the open back yoga top. The functional bra isn't cute in those circumstances. To me, a bralette is meant to show its straps, or doesn't mind, and regular bras are not meant to do this. Part of what I'm trying to do is to get a pleasing scale to the garments in question.

I have had luck with Athleta D/DD sports bras. They seem to run a little small. I am a 32DD and had to get a medium in this one (no room to spare either). That is my size and I wouldn't dare to wear a bralette, not enough support. However, it looks like you are quite a bit younger than I am so maybe that isn't an issue?

I've never found anything that was supportive enough to wear out of the house, but I'm a smaller band size and larger cup size, so the disparity of that SML sizing is even more pronounced on me. I do have a couple of bralettes that provide just a tiny bit of support and coverage to wear around the house, but they're not terribly cute. I would think that by now, bra makers would have figured something out for cuter options for those of us with bigger boobs. Sigh.

I’m this size and have some cute bralettes from Aerie. They have some bra sized ones that go to DDD I think. Even the straight S/m/l ones sometimes work (depending on the style - a triangle bra is unlikely to work but a bandeau style is usually ok in M or L).

Angie, thanks! Eden bra is on its way to me. Diana, I'll pop in on Aerie; I just thought teenagers shopped there. I just hate that I don't wear these cute and flattering tops because of how uncomfortable strapless bras are!

Small band/ bigger cup size here. I have a couple of the Cosabella curvy sweetie style that I use for loungewear and can vouch for the comfort. Also recommend checking out Bravissimo, they specialize in larger cup sizes, most with a range of band sizes, and have lots of pretty styles. They’re a UK site but have free shipping and returns in the US if that’s where you’re located.

Following with interest! Smaller size than yours but even so I do find that a comfy bralette is the unicorn... mostly because that bottom wide part that goes around the ribcage ROLLS UP.... freaking dealbreaker! Please report back if the Cosabella ones do not do that.

I wear a 30F and have the Cosabella. The band is a little large for me but still comfy. The seams show through thinner shirts and the support is just so so. It is a great lounge bra.

This is super helpful - definitely going to check out Cosabella curvy and Aerie. I wear bralettes for lounging and have not been able to any cute ones for a 30 DD that fit. I had no idea Cosabella had a curvy line - thanks, Jenn!
