I am starting to get my basic colours and styles in... Just straight skirts, shifts etc. Fancier dresses, tops and jackets will come...
#1 skirts and pants. Pink to be made up. Charcoal pants were orphans, now altered and in rotation
#2 dresses. Taupe and gorgeous blue to come!
#3 my existing jackets in night sky colours. They will have new columns to play with now
#4 unexpected bonus was the dressmaker going through my wardrobe. This boxy tuxedo jacket was unworn. She found this pant which was too small but in a similar fabric and she tuxedo striped the pant and refitted the jacket. Can not wait to wear this - Studio 54 here I come
#5 for summer events I dusted off my own sewing machine and made this dress for as beach wedding last weekend. DH bought me the scarf which goes perfectly. I will wear this for ballet, christmas parties etc with a pinky red espradille sandal.
What do you think? I need to look at accessories. Maybe silver sparkly flats and sparkly purse for the evening gear at least and to work the plain black dresses and pants for events

What a beautiful selection of clothes. I can see why you are excited about your tuxedo pants and jacket - this is a really fantastic and classic outfit. Your new dress (made by you) is also very special, just perfect for summer, congratulations on making a unique piece.

What kinds of fabrics did your dressmaker use? Wool, Linen, cotton, blends? A curious sewist would love to know

The colors are gorgeous! I love that picture of all the blouses hanging together .... that range of choice would be incredible; the colors are all so lush.

I love the fact that your tailor put the tuxedo stripe into your pants! What an amazing way to step them up! And your dress fabric is really beautiful. If this is your true palette, you did a wonderful job finding exactly the right print.

I'd love to see some of these pieces on you. Do you feel like modeling for us?

Thesd look like they havd beautiful drape and color. I'm also interested in fabric- such a benefit of custom of see- your- own. I've such great memories of picking out fabrics with my mom, who sewed beautiful clothes for me that were washable but still
marvelous fabrics.

Oops -- pic 3 is jackets? Wow, that's a lot of jackets! Super fab. I thought they were blouses. That's amazing. My jackets are all neutrals. Kind of mind blowing to see such color in toppers.

They look like beautiful colors! I still love the palette. I'm also curious about the material - good material can be hard to find. And it sounds like you have an amazing dressmaker. That tuxedo-stripe alteration is not an easy one to do, and also very current style.

Wow, these are gorgeous. I love the thought of these bright jackets. I think when a colour is good for you, it functions as a neutral in the best way.

No wonder you're excited about the tuxedo. That's going to be fantastic!

Thank you for your comments - and sorry I am tardy here - very busy time at work. So please excuse brief responses but I hope to get some wiw's each day so I can make a catalogue for myself.

Fabrics - while I would love wool it makes me itch, and I really wanted something I can handwash at home. I know its a double edged sword but you only get one wear out of clothes in warmer weather - aka most of the year here - so I needed to be able to wash. So I opted for good quality 'poly' type suitings and microfibers. As some of these are lined I really searched for good linings so its not like being in plastic wrap

Tops - I tend to smooth knits/jerseys so I collect Eileen fisher silk jersey and other jersey tops when I can. My formula is largely column with coloured jacket, tonal; or a bright/patterned top - I added a few examles. I have been playing with necklines but I have a 'collection' of nice necklaces so try and use them for focus.

Now that I am nigh on done with replacing and adding to my basics, I will venture into getting some fitted tops made in my fabrics so I can mix them with skirts to get the look in the next pic.5

Of course would love to hear ideas but I figure I will use tops as my place to beat boredom.

Shoes continue to be an issue and I even tried to get some made, so I have Abby Munro, black court and think I will get the Munro Whitney even though I found another black flat which I love and is sooo comfy but is not quite my style... I do want to find some lighter coloured shoes but we will see. And colours, well.... I have boots and booties covered for some reason. But our looong summer means it is more cooler shoes.

Wow, what a great collection of clothes. I've always liked a high quality synthetic suiting, so much more versatile than wool. And the colors are great.

Re the shoes, have you heard of Shoes of Prey? I don't know if their comfort is better than a regular shoe, but you can design it to your specifications.

To be nosy, did you consider the amount of money you paid for the dressmaking reasonable? You don't have to give an amount if you don't want to, I'm just wondering what range we're talking about, high end RTW, or crazy expensive?

Laura, I tried Shoes of Prey and they fit but the style I chose rubbed just slipping them on which is a shame as I would have gone to town.
Cost... I did a lot of research and have used 3 people actually. The basic skirts have been done by 2 people and were 40 - 80$ each depending on person. I would expect to pay 250 for similar fabric and quality in store.
I am getting the dresses and jacket made by 2 women in the commercial industry. My black core pieces are being done by an ex-pattern maker of one of our most exclusive brands and she is making the wedding dress for designee of another brand. She comes to my house and fits jackets etc twice. Jackets averaged 250. This was for my core black jackets I will wear for major presentations etc not the little coloured ones I bought online. So its been an outlay getting it done together over a few months but hope it works out. I need office gear daily and travel so...

Your colour palette is very similar to mine, so it's both a lot of fun and educational for me to see how you are making it work. You must be thrilled with this... basics made to your specification, no endless pounding of the pavement to get it. Best of luck with the footwear!
