Custo Coat is here!! Another disappointment.....

The coat arrived today from Germany and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The print is divine and it is lined with grey leopard fake fur and is the most soft & strokable material.

Unfortunately the down side is that I look like it is about 2 sizes too big for me (it is marked as a 38 which is a UK size 12 (and I was hoping it ran small because I am about a UK size 10).

I also got a second opinion from a colleague at work and she persuaded me it would be tricky to make it work.

My wish was not to be granted. (sobs quietly).

There are no other coats of this type available on the web - as far as I can see.

Oh well, back to the drawing board for me......

Andrea, do you care to post a picture? Of course if it is 2 sizes too big it is a no go but it would be interesting to see why she thinks it is ahrd to make it work if you love the coat.

Too hard as in could not be altered? Could not be styled? It is a gorgeous coat, extremely unique. I'm sorry it didn't fit and you can't seem to find a better size. Maybe if you stalk it, it will come up (or Angie might have an idea).

Oh no, what a shame. Post some pics from all angles and also get a second or third opinion too. It's always possible that your colleague was transferring her own fear of wearing something daring onto her advice to you.

Coats are sometimes meant to be on the big side and can still work out. If you *really* love it, think carefully before you send it back incase you regret it as you're right it's not like items like this are in every high street window to choose from :0)

Hi all,

Unfortunately I can't post pics as the coat is already wrapped up ready to send back.

However, when I say you could wrap me up one and half times in the coat you can see that it was waayy too big to even ask the YLF peeps for a second opinion.

I did try to convince myself I could wear it unbuttoned (wrapped across) and belted but there was a huge excess of fabric. I think it would also be virtually impossible to get altered without the whole thing being taken apart.

If anyone sees anything like this coat please let me know and I will be most eternally grateful.

How sad, I figured it was oversized from the designer's picture. I guess you are not able to get a smaller size?

I'm so sorry that did not work out for you. I think many of us were excitedly hoping to see you in that outrageously fantastic coat. I'd be heartbroken if I'd ordered it and had to return it --- and I haven't even seen and felt it in person!

Hope you have better luck, and soon! After such a blow, the universe has to owe you!

Oh no - I'm sorry it didn't work out! No hopes for an alteration, perhaps...? Size 10 & 12 are not a huge difference - maybe a nip and tuck in the shoulders and sleeves? The design is simply awesome - love the colours, unique print, everything!

Are you willing to take a risk and have it altered? A good tailor can easily take it down a size. I once came across a beautiful Desigual coat (hard to find in Vancouver!) and the smallest size they carried was still at least a size too big. I bought it anyway, took it to the tailor, and she made the shoulders smaller. It was a costly alteration, but now it fits perfectly....and perfect strangers comment on it almost every time I wear it!
