Mine is I can't find ideal options for many thing and everything I do find is sold out before I have any time to consider it properly. Aargh!

I have to say that drives me crazy too ! It seems to be happening more. At least where I live, it seems that choice and quantity are decreasing. So when I see something that I like, I feel almost an urgency to get it ( I can always return it ). This doesn't mean that I buy, but I feel anxious almost.

Here is my big peeve right now...why is sizing so all over the place? After trying clothes on at multiple stores to see what fits, I've ended up with clothes anywhere from size 2 (at Gap) to size 10 (at H&M). The sizing isn't necessarily consistent even at one store...each garment fits differently. I have a hard time buying clothes online because I just don't know what size is going to fit me. If I shop online I have to buy multiple sizes and return, which is bad for the wallet especially if the credit card bill comes before I've had a chance to return things. I wish sizing was standardized with actual measurements, like how men can buy shirts based on neck & sleeve length.

My pet peeve is boot/shoe measurements being all over the place. Even trusted sites like Endless and zappos often have conflicting information. Is it really that hard to use the tape measure?!?

I haven't found sizing all over the map, but I am peeved by vanity sizing. I used to be a waist size 29 in jeans, absolutely reliably. Suddenly I'm a 27 in some brands. Yeaaahhhh right. Nice try, joe's and seven for all mankind! I just ignore the number now and eyeball an item, try it, then go by what fits.

My saddest peeve is the brands I rely on suddenly rebranding and changing approach. For example, I used to love Rag and Bone jeans, but I think their new /jean line is almost insulting. The cuts and styles and fabrics are totally different from the older line. And not made in the States anymore, which I really appreciated. Why, R&B, why?

My pet peeve is that size charts that compare European and US sizes online are usually completely wrong. No connection to reality! So no way for me to order things online!

Current pet peeve - still almost all dresses are above-the-knee in length, even when I see a wider variety of lengths on the runway. Which is fine but I'd like some variation. Being almost 6' tall, many dresses/skirts that are barely above the knee on others are really quite short on me. How about some slightly longer variations to balance out all the short, very short and extremely short styles!? I'd kill to find a slinky black pencil skirt that hit me an inch or three below the knee. *sigh*

I have a panic when I want anything but am not ready to snap it up because the items disappear so quickly, never to be seen again. On the other hand then I don't feel like I have to wait for a sale price :oP

Dearth of size 16 or 18 bottoms in stores, so shopping is no fun. (At least I can buy on-line).

Woven tops and fitted blouses are not made for full-busted lasses - if they fit over the bust they swamp me at the shoulders.

Very limited wide-calf (18") boots on line, none-nada-zero-zilch in stores.

My pet peeve is just that there are no real fashionable stores for ladies in my area. There are discount stores, a few low end department stores (Kohl's, Sears, Penny's, Target and KMart), and Junior stores. We were supposed to get a Macy's and an Old Navy, but it must have fallen through. They were also saying they were going to double the size of our mall (add a second story), and I don't know if that is happening anymore. We have one empty anchor store in the mall- if H&M or Old Navy moved in they would make a killing, but nobody has! I have to drive an hour each way to get to any decent stores. So it's pay for shipping or pay for gas.

Shoes do not come in my size, like ever practically. Stores used to carry wide shoes but they are not considered profitable so they are no longer made or stocked. Clothing stores do not carry petites. I almost always have to order everything. Petite selections are very limited even though the average height of American women is 5'3", which is considered petite. Even some petite sizing is too long in the torso for me and I am not short waisted. Petite pants now come with a 31" inseam. That is a no hem length with 4" heels for me! If something fits at the shoulders, it is not going to fit at the waist.... I'm going to stop now because this is making very sad and annoyed!

I am starting to agree with Angie on the sizing. I used to get annoyed about sizing being all over the place, but at least now I know I can get a blazer that actually fits from H&M. Lots of petites love Theory blazers, but I have tried on every one in every size and cut. Even if I had an infinite clothing fund, they simply would not work for me.

I am right there with you chewyspaghetti, we have to drive at least an hour each way to get moderately fashionable stores. The mall here wasn't even able to support a GAP and so even that closed up several months ago. We've got a Target, Sears, and Old Navy, but not even a Kohl's nearby. Not that you can't find great stuff at Tar-jay, but it can be a stretch to find interesting or unusual "fashion" and, if you can get the look, it can be tough to find the quality one would like for building a minimal, interesting, long term wardrobe...and I'm trying to get away from what my friend calls "fast fashion". All that as a long way to say that I guess my pet peeve is a lack of diversity in shopping nearby-so that I can find both investment pieces and fun pieces as well as the opportunity to just shop for inspiration. One reason I've loved looking at YLF is because I can't just see a blouse or pants and instantly "know" what I will do with it, I get such terrific ideas and inspiration from seeing all of you....

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - my pet peeve is that everything out there seems to be sheer right now. It's one thing if you're actually looking for something like that, but I don't want to have to wear a tee or tank or slip under every blouse, sweater, or dress I buy.

Sizing is continuously challenging, definitely not universal, but it doesn't deter me from the hunt.

When I see/try on something I absolutely love - I buy it. Immediately. Sometimes in multiples.

NK, that's exactly why things are made so sheer - so you will need an under layer and the store banks on you purchasing both items together. I have a friend who used to work at The Limited, and she said managers would go on and on about how no one has an excuse to not raise their "items per transaction" average because every top should be an automatic two piece sale.

I have two. One is that clothing choice in Canada is much more limited that in US even for the same brands and tall sizes are very hard to come by. How come BR and Gap in US offer alot of models in Long and Tall versions but in Canada they do not have Tall size at all and a number of models in Long is much slimmer.
Number two is that finding my shoe size 12 in our stores is almost impossible. It is a blessing we have Long Tall Sally (aka Tall Girl) in London - otherwise I would be walking around barefeet. But with one store only the selection is very limited - and Zappos does not ship to Canada anymore!

Agreed on cheapening of fashion. Why can't I even buy a decent T shirt anymore?

Also on shoes--I generally need a 10 1/2 and a lot of places don't stock it or stock limited amounts. 11s are usually too big. I see lots of brands that sell online that have half sizes up to 10, then jump to 11.

I am in a grumpy mood today about the poor quality of just about everything lately. I am partly to blame though--I keep buying lots of cheap stuff out of frustration. I ought to save up and shop harder for better quality.

I want to add that along the lines of cheapening of fashion and sheerness of everything, I cannot find a decent basic white t with a nice drape to it. If it drapes, it's so sheer it's not even white anymore but more skin colored! And if it's thick enough to not be sheer, it doesn't drape well and fits like a boxy boy's shirt. Harumph.

Pants information never includes the measurement of the hem opening; rise length always listed would be great too, though I do see those from time to time.

(I suppose I'm in the minority, but I quite like tissue weight layering pieces.)

Out here I get irritated by how they stock the stores unevenly. There is almost nothing in my age demographic at department stores.

To explain: I found my trenchcoat at JCPenney. Originally I found it in another town, but I didn't get it because I figured my town store would have it. Not only did they not have it in any color I wanted, but also only in plus sizes. I ended up having go back to get it (but by the time I got it it had gone on clearance so I ended up getting a $170 coat for $99

And speaking of Old Navy, I dunno if it's just where I am, but why do they put the pants with the shorter inseams on the highest shelves?

I agree about stuff I want being sold out. Just found a super-cool apple green bag in a nylon fabrication (nice change from leather!), but it is loooong gone. I wish stores would take a poll to see if they should do a second run of certain things...
