This is my holy grail. I do not put product before I blow dry, my hair just does not like it but this is the perfect finishing touch. I apply very sparingly and never near my roots. This is a silicon type product. It tames fly aways, removes frizz and lasts a lifetime. Use VERY sparingly.

Also, invest in a good ionic blow dryer - mine is ancient and no longer manufactured, so I'm not sure which is good. Also, get yourself a good this straigthening iron. I use this one to curl (yes, curl) my ends:

As far as champu & conditioner, I'm a herbal essences type of gal. I use either the one for long hair or colored hair. I do no put conditioner on my roots either.
As far as technique, do not start blow drying your hair when is really damp. Allow to air dry for a bit until half way dry, then separate hair into sections, and dry one piece at the time. I use a round brush, wih fine bristles. Kind of roll each section into the brush, and apply heat then brush up and down. I will try to dig up a good you tube video for you.
