I had my doubts about culottes when I first started seeing them on YLF. But after having viewed so many WIWs from Forum Members, my eye has adjusted and I have come to absolutely LOVE them.

I must have a pair. I am starting my search this weekend. Since this is my first experimental pair, I thought I would start with places like Old Navy and Gap. Does that make sense?

I am glad you are a convert, Sterling, and hope you find your pair. Please don't discount Express, either, two of my pairs came from there at crazy clearance, for about $20 each.

It makes a lot of sense! I recently bought a pair from Kohl's, as an inexpensive way to try the culotte trend. They're Elle brand. Sorry I can't post a link with my Nook.

I love them and have received compliments on them. I've found that even when I pair some older pieces of my wardrobe with them, I suddenly have a very on-trend outfit.

Yay Sterling! Wishing you luck in your search for the perfect pair. Old Navy was where I started with my culotte collection. I also have some from Express, including the sailor jeans Tanya mentioned -- which are fabulous. American Eagle also has culottes/wide-leg jeans at a reasonable price.

I agree, they're growing on me too. I was thinking of cropping some old pants that are wider in the leg and trying them. I always forget about Express but do like some of their things.

They are also growing on me. Like RobinF, I've been thinking of having some wide pants cut off. But, if wider pants are coming back, I should just go but some culottes to try. I am wondering about winter wear but think I have some ankle boots that will work. Please keep us informed on what you find.

Good plan. I am wearing my CdG culottes today.

For a budget option, may I suggest Uniqlo? They do this style very well, their prices are reasonable and they pay attention to quality and detail. I have a nice pair from them in summer weight, but I haven't seen their winter options IRL.

Yay, Sterling!! I can't wait. I think they are the PERFECT item to refresh your work AND your casual style. They will work so well in your climate. They are cooler than full length pants yet modest and practical. They can be feminine or more masculine depending on the cut and what you pair them with. They work with a number of different types of footwear. They do require some styling tricks but once you figure those out, you will find them cooler than pants, warmer and more modest than shorts, and either dressy or casual, as you need. They also work well at home as loungewear (in the right fabrication).
