I really like these culotte outfits Angie is featuring (especially with flat shoes). But I am somewhat confused because I hate wide cropped pants. Why would I like culottes so much? Aren't they somewhat similar?

I think the devil is in the details as always and wide cropped pants are just that...pants, because they are perhaps that bit longer? Are you drawn to culottes just below mid knee and above calf? They then give a whole different vibe IMO. I also like that they just have a different, sometimes edgy look.

In my book the two are very different - although I feel shops are calling all sorts of shorter pants 'culottes.' I think culottes are prettier, more feminine.

I love this look and hope to find some in a softer fabrication. I started looking this morning. A lot were already sold out so I am not the only one loving this new look.

DianeG. I am loving the ones that are just below the knee. They would be something I could add to both my work and casual capsules. I think I will focus on a solid in a softer fabrication (something that moves).

Rachylou. I think I need to look at pictures side by side because in my mind they should be the same thing, but they translate so differently for me. Maybe if I see them side by side, I'll be able to make the distinction between why I love one and hate the other.

I view culottes more as a divided skirt than as pants. Except for the very slim ones, they have the same silhouette as a midi skirt.

Culottes are a different animal when they are shorter. More like a swooshy skirt.
