Cuffing jeans

Anna, do you like the big rolled cuff (on the skinny) or the big folded one (on the straight)? I kind of like them both, I have to say. The rolled ones with the LV high shaft booties are kind of spectacular.

Early last summer (I think?) I bought white selvedge jeans from JCrew that had a deep cuff, and most people here did not like the look at all. The times they are a changin, I think! (Too bad I got rid of those jeans because they were too big. I think they would fit me today, darn it.)

I like most all of 'em! Particularly fond of super-wide and super-skinny cuffs. Don't like wearing the twisted or bunched versions so much, just not as comfortable.

I see quite a lot of folks cuffing these days, all ages and all different styles. I suspect it's due in large part to the recent popularity of ankle boots.

In the InStyle examples I like the big single cuffs in #1 & 6. Also #3, the roll & tuck would be interesting with tall ankle to mid calf boots that are sleek.

ETA Viva, I don't remember your jeans but I've seen many times some on the forum slow to embrace new trends. I remember it with my culottes I got a few years ago. I think even Angie didn't like the cropped flares at first.

Anna, you're right. It took me half a season to love them. I don't have posion eye for cropped flared pants at all - I wear them a LOT, and they've become a wardrobe essential - but I am very, very particular about how they are styled.

I like cuffing my jeans with a fairly big cuff when they have enough length to do so. I've done a lot of these, but I tend to like the cuffs better than the rolls. Nice rundown, thanks for sharing. Got a couple of new ideas.

Thank's for the links, interesting and helpful. I've been experimenting with cuffing and am enjoying a bit wider cuff, copied from Lisa. I also like my cropped frayed hem straight jeans flipped up one cuff. I'm planning on wearing them that way in spring.

I really like the "fold and tuck" but the difficulty rating is a "hard" so unfortunately, that one's off the table for me

Fun posts, thanks for sharing these Anna. I've tried many of them. But it just occurred to me... I always do my cuffing after I've put my jeans on not before like these are showing. How else would I get the length right?? Does explain why it takes me what I've always assumed was way too long to straighten out my side seams.

I think I prefer a cuff. I just bought a pair of cuffed NYDJ cropped jeans, & can't wait to wear them. I have some pants that are supposed to be rolled, but I feel self conscious whenever I wear them and am thinking of having them hemmed up.

Hah, I never would have thought to cuff before putting the jeans on -- I always do that afterward, unless they're still cuffed from the last time I wore them.

Cuffing length and evenness is a little tricky when you have uneven leg lengths -- if I get the cuffs looking the same size, one invariably ends up hitting my leg lower than the other side. Ah, the joys of asymmetry. Am I the only one? The tailor does a double take when I only need to get one leg of a pair of pants tailored.

I like the big cuff and have done it occasionally. It only works with a couple of my pairs of jeans though. Basically only the straight legs.

Archer, I'm not sure what you are getting it. Ok yes I do enjoy fashion but honestly it's 5% ok probably 10% of my life. And ylf is even less.
I don't post all the other things going in my life. Heck even Facebook gets less than half.
So if you feel that you know me by the 1% of my life I post here, That seems like an awfully small sample size.

I posted these links because another forum member was fiddling with her cuffs. So I got curious and found these tutorials because I figured they might help others and guess what you can experiment with cuffing jeans for zero dollars.
