Cruise ship Formal dinner outfit?

I am going on a 7 day Caribbean cruise with 3 generations of family. Most of the group will be on the lower end of the formal scale, so I don't want to go "too formal". So far I have found this navy jersey dress and pewter shoes, and was wondering:
1) if they will work together (not matching dress to shoes is a step outside my comfort zone!)
2) if so, what accessories/jewelry/hosiery would complete the outfit?
3) Would the shoes (pewter) work with a black dress (simple sleeveless empire waist sheath)?

The navy dress is a bit shorter on me than the model (I'm 5'2" and it is a petite size S). I'm fair skinned, with very short strawberry blond hair.

It will look just fine! I'm a veteran cruiser and have taken several 7-day Caribbean cruises. I think you've made good choices.

This is a fabulous dress. You can do just about anything with this dress. Perfect for travel IMHO. For a formal dinner, I'd don my diamonds and emeralds and sapphires I.e., some bling. The shoes will go with black too, IMO.

Not everyone dresses super formally on formal night. There are plenty of women who wear shorter dresses or pantsuits. Practically anything goes as long as you're not too casually dressed. You'll be fine!

I think that would be a lovely pairing! I'd probably wear pearls and some diamond earrings, but I think a more elaborate necklace as Rachylou suggests would be wonderful!

The dress you have chosen is lovely and will be fabulous for formal night on the cruise. As others have pointed out, a lot of ladies wear shorter dresses instead of long gowns. I would probably accessorize with a statement necklace or earrings and a lovely clutch (in a print or perhaps in pewter to complement the shoes). And yes -- the shoes would also look great with a simple black sheath dress. Enjoy your cruise!

I've been on a few cruises and this looks fine for formal night. I would go for jewelry that photographs well. They always take lots of pictures on formal night. Since you are a strawberry blonde, do you have a necklace that is lighter and brighter than this dress?

ETA -- either nude, pale silver/gray or sheer navy hose would work.

One thing about the jewelry that you might want to consider is that you said you'll be with people who will be "on the lower end of formal." I would assume, then, that they won't be wearing glitzy jewelry. If that's the case, then you might want to be sure to wear nice jewelry but try not to go OTT. I'm speaking from personal experience, of course, and your experience may be vastly different than mine. I just know that most of the people my DH and I know, including family, hardly ever dress up or own any type of special statement jewelry. I would feel awkward if I wore some of my jewelry around them. When my DH and I cruise alone, however, I dress up as much as I want.

I've been on cruises and think this is fine for formal nights. There will be a variety of formal-ness, personally I have never worn a long dress on a cruise. I love the shoe color with it and agree that you could also wear those with a black dress for the second formal night and only bring one pair of dressy shoes.

Consider these shoes your new nude shoes. They will go with anything and any color just about. They will go with more outfits than they don't go with. You'll be amazed how much use you'll get from them!
