crossbody bag/which color?

I saw this bag at a high price boutique on a weekend getaway, and kept thinking about how perfect it would have been for an upcoming trip to Paris this spring. It had the perfect place for everthing even your camera, it was light weight and had the nicest hardware for a bag like this. Found it online for half what it was in the store-help me choose the best color. I have a black MK trench I know I'll take and will probably pack in a limited color palate around it so I can pack light. I love the red, but should I be safe and pick black because it will go with everything?

Red -- unless you plan to wear a lot of pink or some color that looks wrong with this red.

P.S. I have one Baggalini piece for travel and really like the quality. I was told the line was started by some flight attendants that got tired of how *functional* looking all the travel accessories were. . .

Another thought: if you like that style but prefer leather, it is a LOT like the Fossil Sutter crossbody I have (which does have a great organizing layout). Macy's always has some in various colors and there are always some colors on sale/clearance in the store:

I love this bag! Must be the hardware lol. Anyway, I would say red also. And for what it's worth I was always a black bag is practical kind of person for years and years. Red is fun, almost neutral really, and as a bonus you're less likely to leave it behind in a restaurant or on a bus because of it's brighter color!

Oh yeah, red! If you're like me and bring a lot of basic black on trips, it will add a nice pop of color and make you happy!

MNsara-Wow, thanks for the link-it looks almost exactly like the Bagallini, front compartments and all, I should check those out in person. I've seen a number of crossbody bags before,leather and otherwise, for some reason this one just appealed to me but maybe leather would be a better option.

Alaskagirl-Just missed your post. Yes, I think you are right. The red does make me happy -it is such a petty red too, the picture doesn't do it justice!

Carole, I have a Baggalini bag - a tote with a number of compartments that I use as carry-on with my 6 year old son. It is tough, durable and soft. Oh, and easy to clean. I would not substitute leather for it because it is such a travel workhorse. If you are going to be slogging this bag around with you on planes, restrooms, and other scuffy places, I would definitely get the non-leather one for that purpose.

Just a thought!

I vote red, with a black trench. If you wanted to blend wear the black bag but red is more run and cheerful to me. I have the Fossil Handbag, Sutter Crossbody Bag and love it. RED!! Angie was right as rain as usual when she has called red a neutral. I have a red leather tote in the same hue of red that this Baggalini appears to be, and it goes with EVERYTHING I own. From what I've seen of your wardrobe and knowing the black trench you have (I have the same one), I vote red.

This is too funny, but I'm finding myself deciding between both the bags listed in this post for my red bag hole I want to fill. I saw a lady at the grocery with they Sydney in giraffe print and had to ask her the brand. It didn't strike me until hours later this is the same bag you were debating between red and black! And then on an eBay hunt I came across the Fossil one. It looked almost pink in the pic. Once I came back to this thread and saw the Macy's color pic the red looked just right. I think I'll go for the Fossil. I could have saved myself about 20 hours of online shopping had I just thought to come back here - sheesh! I'm going to be handbag twins with one of you if the bidding goes well

Update! Got the red, LOVE IT! Alaskagirl sold me on the fact that for travel this material is preferred over leather. Looking forward to putting it to the test. Thanks for all your help in making the choice!
