Yeah... I had a bag given to me that was a cross-body nylon bag with a wide strap. Looked terrible. But I wear messenger bags cross-body all the time and they look fine. So I am not sure what makes the difference, actually. Hmmm.

Definately can relate to that. It does depend on what you have on but I cannot give up the crossbody - so convenient and I haven't lost my purse since I "crossed" over. I will have to give up the mirror instead. LOL

I never really wear mine across the body - I just like the longer strap so I can have my purse down just at my hip level on one shoulder. I shorten the straps (never buy ones that aren't adjustable) so it's just at the right length for me. I *might* wear it cross body if I'm in a busy area and worried about theft but then I'm not as worried about how it looks. It is better with a heavier jacket of course.

I like wearing my cross-body bag when grocery shopping, particularly at Costco - I can reach into a freezer for something without my bag slipping off my shoulder etc. That said, I just realized there are no mirrors at Costco

Ha, I never thought that having abnormally wide set boobs would be good for something! I love cross body bags. I do have to make sure the strap length is right though - too short and it's hard to get on and off, bit too long and it's always bumping all over my big butt.

VC, I agree that they are essential when grocery shopping! The other day, I bent over to get something from a bottom shelf and my (non cross body) shoulder bag swung around and bonked me in the head.

Oh definitely, yes. I don't use them often for that very reason. Usually I try to only use them when I'm wearing a jacket, to help mitigate the problem. Crossbody strap + thin tee = very unfortunate boobage on me!

yup...definitely function over form. the bisected boob is a known complication of this look.

They don't look good on my chest either but I mostly only buy bags that have the option of being worn that way for shopping or riding the underground etc. Practicality sometimes trumps style, sometimes though we get to have both. I think medium width straps are best & heavier garments, not thin ones. Also try them on at home with different garments to see which look best. See if they are interfering with a collar or anything.

Unrelated but I don't want to start another thread, my iPad keeps changing what I write & I have to edit my posts. There are some that I didn't notice too I think. Frustrating.

Yes unfortunately but it is hard to go back to anything else after being hands-free. I try to keep the weight of them on my hip to stop the "look at me" tug..

Oh yes, I forgot about seat belts - I bought a furry clip on thingy for mine (that really sounds weird) so the belt didn't cut into me.

Never mind the so-called bisected "boob" problem, I am laughing at the idea of being bonked in the head by a wayward purse, when trying to get something out of a grocery store freezer case. That's totally something I'd do, or have happen to me - and knowing my luck, the evil wayward purse would somehow slip off my shoulder, and smash into the eggs I was carefully inspecting.
