Cropped over long: my turn

I had a few minutes this evening to try this look! Veterans may recall my obsession with cropped sweaters a while back - and I finally gave up and dumped a bunch of them. I held onto this cheap black one. KICKING MYSELF because I think I love this look and it work really well with the t-shirts I just donated too. I may have to go hunt my own shirts down at Value Village!

Trying with an old grey check Halogen shirt and the Eileen Fisher harem pants. Managed to stuff arms into a blazer too, shamelessly copying MaryK. This feels very me... I love the nonchalant androgyny of it.

Assuming the pants and footwear need to be changed out, but what do we think? Not cropped enough? Shirt not long enough? And is there any chance these pants work?

I really like this. And I love it with the jacket a la suit style. I would be interested to see a crop top that is not fitted but more draped (no waist band) but I think that my just be my style aesthetic talking.

check the auto-focus settings - there might be one specific to how auto-focus works with the self-timer (ie. when it focuses - either when the shutter is pressed or when the shutter goes off; you want the latter).

I do think the IT body type rocks the heck out of this look. I kept feeling like my hips/belly were on display, but with your narrow hips this looks completely awesome. I do wish the pants were sleeker, but it's not offensive with the slouchy pair.

Yep, I love this look on you. It makes me wonder if I can make it work, because it seems so brilliantly suited to an IT, and I have the same concerns as Jenava. However, I'm thinking of keeping the long shirt and the pants more tonal and going for contrast in the crop top to keep the emphasis on my waistline. Now I just need to find a crop top! Like you, I got rid of all of my shorter tops expect for one cardigan that I do like, but I think it's too fitted for this look.

This looks great on you (auto focus issues and all). I think I agree with Jenava - it would work best on IT body types. I don't think it would work so well on me, but after seeing it on others, I want to try it too (I'm such a lemming)!

The pictures are, as you've noted, not clear enough to judge the pants but I'm really liking the cropped-over-floaty look! (Fellow premature purger here sharing your regret...)

With my camera, I realized that I was standing directly in front of it while holding the shutter button halfway down for it to focus. Then when I took my place across the room, it was focusing where I had been standing rather than where I was when it shot. I learned to do the halfway button press while standing to one side.

I love it! Nodding along with those who say it seems exceptionally well suited to an IT. I am not sure I'll be able to wear it as well, but I aim to try!

If you can remember Una, we would really appreciate it if you used the new feature at the bottom of the blog post when you start a thread that is about a blog post topic. Thank you all! Angie, I forgot to do that until after I posted - doesn't look like there is a way to edit now but I hopefully will remember from now on!

I am so happy this works and I am curious as to why so many feel it suits an IT. I would think it would be fab on anyone if the bottoms are right. In fact I felt skinnies would emphasize the IT shape too much.

Dang I want my cropped sweaters back! This is why I hoard!

Una - this is amazing! It just seems to perfectly fit your "style." Love it! (My only thought - and it's the same thought that I had when looking at MK's rendition of this ensemble - is that I would rather the jacket and shirt not be so close to the same length - you know, so that the shirt tails would hang out below the jacket - but that's just me, because Angie called both your's and MKs "killer" - so I probably don't know that I'm talking about!) I can't wait to get home (next week) and try this outfit out myself! Thanks for posting!

Marley I agree a longer shirt would be good too especially with skinnies but I don't have one yet! New shopping list.... Oh and will get u a pic and measurements for the navy jacket today!

You cropped wonder! Absolutely fabulous, even if it is the last remaining one you have. What a visionary you are to have seen this ahead of the pack and this look is so you! As soon as I saw Angie's ensemble, I thought of you, and I adore your "nonchalant androgyny" concept.

Your cropped sweater length is a perfect length and I prefer the shorter look as shown on you. I hope you can retrieve some of your discarded favorites and if not find a few more you like. (I have to go out and buy my first one to begin.)
