Cropped flares part 2

So a while back I posted a thread about the BR cropped flares.(photo 1)

I had yet to shorten them and recently happened to run across another pair (photos 2 and 3) at Dress Barn. They are a wider leg than I was expecting (picture 4 is from the website) and almost have more of a culottes feel to me. My eye isn't used to this look.
Gotta say the Dress Barn pair are almost like wearing yoga pants, but they are 56% cotton versus the BR pair at 90%.

The BR pair received positive reviews for me but I'm only going to keep one, so I guess I'm looking for opinions on which pair it should be!

Prefer the first pair. It seems to me that the BR pair fit you better.

They are two entirely different fits and looks (cropped flares vs. wide legs), so it is a little like comparing apples to oranges. As you have styled the two pairs, I am partial to #1. That one is a slam dunk. But the wide legs might also have potential if styled differently, so I suggest playing in your closet a bit. (I personally own both cropped flares and culottes I find that they require slightly different styling -- usually different tops and shoes -- in order to look their best on me.)

The first is a cropped flare, the second are culottes. I think they both fit well, though the culottes need to be hemmed a little shorter. If you're only going to keep one I vote the kick crops in #1.

I prefer the first pair as you have styled them. I like culottes but they would need to be styled differently. Which works for your life style?

The BR pair are MUCH nicer, Pill. Hack them yourself with scissors and wear them.

Not realizing just how voluminous the second pair is, I was hoping I might be able to just put them on and go and avoid alterations. The lazy gal's way. Or should I rephrase lazy and say optimistic, that sounds nicer!

I agree with Angie, just hack those BR and get to wearing them! No need for $$ alterations with this year's trend of non hemmed and frayed bottoms. Well, unless you want a hemmed look of course, which is fine but takes more time and work.
