Crocs laid off a third of their employees. And lost $185 million last year!

I feel sorry for the people who lost jobs, but I am happier thinking of a world with fewer Crocs

I posted this on my FB account and saw that a few of my friends re-posted it to theirs. Job loss is awful, but I can't help but feel a sense of delight that I'll be seeing fewer garish rubber shoes in my future.

One of my friends who re-posted it teaches kids in an elementary school and says Crocs are a regular cause for slips, trips, and falls among her students. Not just ugly, but dangerous!

Oh yes Maya, that's true. My son had a pair of red Crocs when he was 3. I thought they were so cute until he face-planted into the asphalt. Bye-bye, Crocs!

Thank goodness they may be going away! I also worked at an elementary school that banned the shoes. I think the teachers were more upset by than than the students.

But there are plenty of Crocs copies. Anyone seen them?

I see the copies everywhere. I have to admit that I bought some (real) crocs to wear while I dye yarn- it's messy work so I needed something that could get wet, but still give me arch support. I really didn't like them though. The straps broke quickly, and they didn't have great support even though I got one of the specialty pair. It is sad that yet another business is having difficulties, though.

Oh- I have a small hand dyed yarn company. It's called Chewy Spagehtti. Well, it's not much anymnore. But, before the economy went to pieces, I was spending a lot of time dying yarn for yarn shops.

Angie's point is interesting, too. Maybe the knock-offs are eroding Crocs' business.

I love Crocs! I don't have any, but I think they are the best children's shoes ever. My kids are 3 and almost 6 and have never had a problem falling in Crocs. They're just so easy to hose off when they're dirty, my kids can put them on easily by themselves, they're comfortable, and you can get them in all colors. We have both Crocs and knock-offs.

You know, in 30 years, they'll come back around like the jellies we wore as kids!

I've got some knock off crocs to use in the shower when camping would never wear them out though they are just too wide.
Though i have sppotted these http://www.sweetfeetshoes.co.u.....38;cat=229 which i think are rather cute and might be a good choice for rainy days they look much narrower than regular crocs x
