Critique me, please

First time wearing shinnies. Was going to wear dark red flats, but didn't think they looked right. Actually, nothing looked right, it is one of those "I don't have anything to wear" moments, and of course I need to leave soon.

I feel like I'd line this on someone else, but that it's not me.

Maybe wear a blazer instead of a light cardi? Otherwise, all the bottom layers and boots look great.

I'm no expert, so please take this for the tiny amount it's worth
I think the long cardigan and the long column of color (black) are really nice, I wonder if it might look better with an untucked top? For me, it seems that the belt buckle "stops" my eye instead of keeping it vertical and "long".

What about this isn't "you"?

Thanks. No time to fuss with this, so I changed. CocoLion, a blazer would be great, except I only have black. And what doesn't feel like "me" is the "toughness" of black pants, black top and black leather boots w/skinnies tucked in. I've never worn my boots out of my pants, and I feel a little bit like Johnny Cash.

I think the jeans and boots look great. How about with a longer flowy-er top with a little color or pattern and a shorter jacket (denim, leather?) on top?

Black on black is a challenge to pull off - so adding some color is the right step. This top may be better untucked with this outfit. If you don't have another jacket yet, maybe you can put one on your shopping list. Something lightweight (blazer, denim jacket, utility) that you can wear with lots of things - indoors as well as outdoors. Cobalt or Navy Blue looks really great with black and is "in" right now.

I really like the underlayer but it doesn't relate to the cardi to my eye. I would pick a different topper for today and work on a different outfit with the cardi that incorporates more lightness for another time.

Love the column of color and I think the cardigan is fine. You have the height to carry it off! Even better you seem to have the coloring to carry of this camel color, a rare thing in a brunette! I also love the belt buckle for bring a touch of bling. But I like bling.

I like this look. I find the softness of the cardigan contrasts well with the toughness of the black. But you have to feel comfortable so if your not then maybe play around until its "you".
