off SYC. I swear, the minute I decide to do one is when the shopping floodgates open. Deals come up, holiday sales, blah blah blah.
My embarrassing binge this last week? The white TR pants, not too bad, I kinda expected to try a pair once they came on sale (still awaiting an exchange - they may not work out). Then the marled swirled tunic/dress. Filled the rock n roll vibe day dress spot. The Gap python skinnies I didn't expect to be on sale for at least another month. I was wrong. The black and white bandeau bras because I wear the blue ones I have to death lounging around and blue doesn't match half of what I wear lol. (used a Paypal return to cover those) And NOW I'm half cocked to pull the trigger on the booties. I know it's not really bootie season for me for another month, but they are on sale right now. Sigh. Terrible, just terrible.

EDIT: I guess the upside is that I'm only out $120 if I keep it all (and don't end up ordering the boots) and everything is returnable, most of it free for once.

IKWYM Mo- when you tell yourself you can't have, you want all the more!
It does seem as though these items have been on your stalking list though, and they may not all work out.
Bras don't count of course.
All this coming from someone who has the same problem.
I am putting my November and December purchases in my 2014 budget at this point!

SYC opens up the floodgates for me too. Can you take some of these out of your future purchasing plans.

I think it depends on why you were on SYC in the first place. Do you have to give up something that is important to you to bring these items into your life?
I know you like a well-curated closet, but you have two distinct lives to dress for -- with two very different climates.

Are these items serving as refreshers for you style? This is what they seem to be to me. You joined the forum before I did, but it seems like you found your wardrobe groove a couple of years ago,perhaps now some of your favorites wearing out or growing a little stale for you (like the pocket bling jeans).

Of course, you have a lot of time on your hands. I sometimes have to watch that I'm not shopping as a activity to distract me from boredom or other chores I'm avoiding. I'm good at avoiding. Only you can answer that question.

All of these items suit your style beautifully, and nothing is expensive or for a fantasy life. Bringing a few items into your life on a regular basis is a way to keep things fresh and fun. I'm all for that!

Mo - this is a really tough call. If you've been stalking for a long time and it finally goes on sale you know that if you do not pounce it will be gone. Then you be scouring the net and paying more at the end of the day. As you say, you can return all if it does not work out. BTW that it awesome girl math only out $120 for all that. I would personally that a major bargain!!

they all were to be 2014 purchases. I keep having to amend my shopping plan for both this year and next lol. I may only end up with the tunic and bandeaus. And that would put me out $12. So I'm not in over my head - yet.
I am going to wait on the booties. I don't need them right now. It's the ON SALE NOW trigger eating at me. I won't let them win! ha ha

See where you are once the purchases arrive, they may not be right or you may be down $120.00. I know you enjoy a challenge and I know we like wardrobe discipline around these here parts but these pieces do scream your name IMO.

Will you regret leaving any of these behind if you don't buy them? If yes, break out the 2014budget now. For what it's worth, I think they are all pretty gosh darn awesome, especially for $120

I'd actually still be on budget for 2013 unbelievably. Within the dollar if you can believe that. I'd have to abstain for the rest of the year to stay there of course. Not likely. But I'm betting both pants don't both end up being winners. I may be pleasantly surprised, but odds are against it.

Love that marled shirt and i will be hopping mad if you let it go. This is the edgy direction you want. I see this in all your purchases btw, so i say bleah to syc and keep the python jeans if they work out. I would get the boot too btw...eases you into that edgy look without screaming "i'm edgy, darn it!"

Mo, if I were you, I would be really picky to make sure that these things are *exactly* what you want. If they're not, then you can take them back. But if they really are the perfect things, and they really have a high happiness quotient for you, then keep them. For me, I kind of figure out how much I like the items by trying them on for a bit every day for a few days and paying attention to my emotional reaction--am I still liking the items, or is my love for them cooling off?

I would also think about the upcoming months--do you like the things you just bought now enough that you are willing to abstain for the rest of the year? Or would you rather have that money available to spend on future items?
