Wow, glad to hear that you are (more or less ) OK, Suz. I know what you mean by poor road design—the bike routes in Victoria range from awesome to dreadful, sometimes just minutes from each other.

And too bad about not being able to meet up with Jenni—it would have been such fun to have seen you two Fabbers together. Mr.G and I are still temporary residents in my sister’s home in Edmonton until our flooded condo gets repaired—six months and still waiting. It would have been so lovely to have had a mini meetup, but the gods seem to have other plans for us.

Good to hear the white shorts made it through the ordeal, though.

A punctured lung is not a minor injury! What a terrifying thing to have happen. I bike a lot, and I despise riding on city streets. As you said, an accident is often neither party's "fault" or both of their faults together, but that doesn't make the event less scary or less dangerous. I am so, so glad you will recover and that things were not worse!

Cross that street off your list of future bike trips! Glad that you’re basically okay and I hope you heal quickly.

What a terrifying and terrible thing to happen to you! Sending you my very best wishes for a very speedy recovery and healing of that lung.

I'm flabbergasted to hear what befell you. Relieved to know you will be all right.

Thank you all for your kind words. Much appreciated. It was an unlucky fluke that it happened and a very lucky fluke that it wasn't worse.

And Mary Beth, I'm definitely eating all the ice cream. It is strawberry season here, too, so I get to enjoy those, too.

Going to see about PT for my hand tomorrow and getting follow up x-rays on the lung.

Gaylene, I'm so sorry your place was flooded -- that is awful! I hope the repairs happen soon and you get back to the Island. I imagine you have been dealing with wildfire smoke in Edmonton, which can't be fun. But on the other hand you get to visit with old friends.

How awful, Suz! A punctured lung sounds concerning. A meet-up with Jenni would have been fantastic.

Suz, wow, what a scary thing! I'm so glad it was not worse and that you got good care and are healing. Wow!

Suz, I hope you have a full recovery and are back to normal soon.

I’m so sorry to learn about you accident, but glad that your injuries are manageable and your spirits intact. Keep those spirits up, and let others (DS, your child) take care of you for a while.

…and totally frivolous, but what a cute outfit!

Oh Suz! How terrifying! And traumatic. Wow, I am so glad to hear you are relatively ok, although your injuries are serious and thankfully you are getting good care. Near misses are a lot to process. Please take care of yourself!

Suz, I'm so sorry to hear this! How scary! Please take care and pamper yourself. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Anyway, very pretty outfit! And those white bermudas definitely have magic powers ... :).

Oh my goodness Suz,when you said wiw to crash ,to crash in this country can mean to relax, chill etc,so when l read that you literally meant you were involved in a crash l was shocked.l am so glad that you are going to be ok it could have turned out differently but it’s still a shock for you so please take it easy until you are completely better.
l can’t believe that you clothes were fine, you ve obviously share Angie ‘s super power of staying clean no matter what!

Sorry to hear..b.ut happy You (and your white shorts:-)) survived sans permanent damages -so please get well asap!:-)

OMGoodness Suz, I'm so sorry this happened to you, but so happy you're okay. Or will be. As someone who works in the field of road design/cycling infrastructure, I'm always interested (read: nosey) about these things. At least whatever poor design you encountered was still good enough to have the car traveling slowly.

And what a bummer that you missed Jenni

I hope your healing process goes quickly and well.
Hugs from the right coast!

Oh my gosh, sounds so scary! Thank goodness for fairly minor (?) injuries. Get well soon!

Good grief! What a harrowing experience. I am so glad it was no worse, but sheesh, this was not good.
Hope you continue to heal and will recover completely.

So scary, my word. My "bike" got hit by a masonry truck last week but I was not on it. Even that was terrifying, can't imagine this.

I love that you made it into a WIW, though. Can't keep our Suz down!

What a terrible thing to happen, I hope you recover quickly. I’m glad the driver was a caring and responsible person. This is a good reminder for me to take care when passing cyclists on the road.

Sorry that you missed a catch up with Jenni.

SUZ! OMG. I'm so glad you are OK. That sounds absolutely terrifying. I hope that, given some time, the nerve damage heals. I'm sure you are quite shaken up by the whole thing. Wishing you healing thoughts.

P.S. I can't believe the shorts. Hopefully someday you'll be able to chuckle at that ending to the story...

MY WORD, SUZ! Yours must be the most gracious near-death experience on the planet! Punctured lung? Nerve damage? Bruises, stitches, and tire tracks on your face...and you post a WIW, even in jest? I definitely need lessons from you on how to stay calm in an emergency! Glad you are well enough to write!

Suz, that is horrible:-(( And it must have been so scary.

I'm so relieved you are relatively ok, and hope the recovery goes smoothly. Please do take it very easy!! xxx
(and sorry you and Jenni didn't get a chance to hang out)

Suz, I am terrified reading this and I wasn’t even hit! So sorry you are going through this. Your positive attitude is inspiring and I’m sending you all the healing vibes I have for a speedy recovery.

I appreciate all the kind words. I'm going for some physiotherapy today. Recovery seems to be going well so far. I had some pain on the weekend but it is diminishing a bit. Onwards!

Late to this, how incredibly awful and so glad to hear it was not as bad as it could have been! You are probably in for a recovery "journey" rather than an instantaneous "all fixed" so be kind to yourself.

Holy Geeze Suz!!! Wow, so glad you are going to be ok. That sounds bad enough (punctured lung is very scary) and just glad it was not worse. Your guardian angel was right with you (I'm having Heaven Can Wait - Warren Beatty flashes). Wishing you a very speedy physical and emotional recovery (must be very traumatic). Only you could come out with pristine clothing, please wallop me not my shorts! Wishing you all good, safe, and peaceful. Hugs to you!!

I hope you’re recovering well!

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, that sounds absolutely terrifying! I hope you are doing alright despite the circumstances, and wish you a swift recovery!

I do also love the outfit you wore, especially the shoes!

I am so sorry to hear such an awful thing befell you. And so grateful that it wasn't worse. Still, the trauma of these things can linger. Take care of yourself and absorb all our fond wishes!

Late here…my goodness! What a harrowing experience and so lucky it was not worse. I did get a chuckle out of the shorts coming out unscathed, though.
