Oooh, I’m so glad to know that this makes sense to you guys. I thought it might just seem crazy/weird but I do often look to men for style inspiration - I guess because I’m seeking proportions that work with short hair. Halle Berry is a great person to look at - thanks for the tip JULES. Of course Tilda Swindon too but she’s much taller.
If ANGIE and RUNCARLA like # 5, I know it’s a winner! That’s my husband’s waistcoat- huge on me- but I may be able to create that look with any v-neck as a layer. The brown coat belonged to my mom but it cuts across my thighs at the worst place, so I want to extend the line by layering things over it, while still letting the lovely brown color show at the sleeves.
SMITTIE I’ve honestly never had a style “direction” before! Just inspiration pics, or items I liked, but I didn’t quite know how to bring them together. This led to a lot of days where I was wearing nice items but felt “meh.” Now I realize I need several key elements of “rocker” look: sharp shoes, sharp topper, some kind of drama or attitude (big jewelry, tall hair, bright makeup). The normcore uniform of jeans, sweater, sneakers does not feel good on me- in fact, on days when I dress that way I literally have a “sick day” feeling, like oh well, this is the best I could do, shuffle shuffle in my sad lumpy slippers.
KKARDS, oh the booties.... went to Zara to scope out shoes, hoping for houndstooth boots. Saw shiny black pointy western Chelsea boots. Fell over myself to try them on. Told self “you already have black kitten heel booties!” Self didn’t listen. Bought boots. Want to wear them every day for the rest of my life.
