Cowboy Boots ?

I was looking on line at Target for inexpensive OTK boots to try and happened to see quite a few different styles of cowboy boots, is this a new trend that I am oblivious about ?? I like the idea of them but have heard that you really need to get the right pair as they can be uncomfortable and do need to be broken in .

I think that cowboy boots from Target would be real hit or miss. In my experience real cowboy boots from authentic western brands tend to be very comfortable with minimal break-in-- some companies, like Ariat even make them with sneaker-like insoles now!

I haven't seen much about cowboy boots lately, but a fan of them. Agreed with Elly that Target could be pretty hit-or-miss for quality, but certainly worth checking out if you want to try a trend without a big investment.

I have four pairs (um, in my defense, we do spend a lot of time in TX) -- two are Old Gringo and two are Lucchese. One of the Lucchese pairs is going on 15 years old and still going strong.

Not a wearer of cowboy boots but I do think quality will make a difference in comfort. That said, I'm always impressed by forum members like Deborah and MsMary who can rock Target footwear.

I think boots can be uncomfortable, but people who find the ones that fit? They're their most comfortable footwear, and they wear them for decades.

(I bought a pair of cowboy boots this summer, am anxiously awaiting cooler weather so I can really wear them. They haven't seemed to need to be broken in, though; they were supremely comfortable when I first put them on, when I finally found the right pair.)

I'm skeptical of how comfortable boots from Target would be, but clearly they work for some people.

I agree with the others that fashion cowboy boots from a place like Target might not be comfortable, but real boots (mine are Justin) should be comfortable. I love my cowboy boots, and look forward to wearing them more in cooler weather. (If it ever gets here.) The only problem is they make me miss riding; I need to find a new teacher.

Oh, I meant to add that my cowboy boots were all comfortable from
The beginning. Yes, they do soften up and break in with wear, but they shouldn't be *uncomfortable* at first. So don't let anyone talk you into an uncomfortable pair by saying "oh, you'll break them in."

I always have a pair of plain black cowboy boots in my wardrobe. The really balance boot cut jeans. I love ariat. Very comfortable and last Zappos carries them as does amazon

Thank you for your insight, I do fancy a pair and probably would not buy a pair form Target as I have a large western store close by. I was surprised to see them at Target as I didn't realize they were so "in".

I have three pairs of western boots. The Ariats are wonderful. If your local western store doesn't have what you like, definitely try Zappos - free shipping both ways, and a pretty big selection.

I bought my cowboy boots (Ariats) as a wildcard a little more than four years ago, and I find myself wearing them often, and in surprising ways. I'm sure their trendiness waxes and wanes, especially outside of the western US, but if you integrate them into your style, they're classics that won't be going anywhere.
