So Covid has finally hit my state in a big way this year, after almost 2 years of the pandemic (A lot of which we were completely cut off from the rest of Australia).
Apparently 1 in 40 in our state is isolating with Covid right now, and cases jumped by 40% from yesterday.
And yes, I'm one of them!
It's such a change. Until January, I didn't know a single Australian who had acquired it in Australia.
Now, in a whatsapp group of 4 friends who have a periodic dinner out, half of us are down, and one more has a positive family member.
2/3 siblings didn't meet Mum on Mother's day I had it, Bro in low had it - the remain sib saw mum, but then one of his kids tested positive on Tues.
Fortunately, our vax rates are extremely high, and the variant is milder, so not that many deaths or hospitalisations. Perhaps less wisely, our mask rules were substantially loosened last week, and close contact rules changed.
I've had a very mild version - not even a bad cold equivalent.
