After 26 years of living and working in a community of around 40 thousand, DH and I have relocated to an even smaller community (16,000) but it is within an hour commute to the biggest city in Canada...and that is where I work!

Last week I started the commute, a 1 hour train ride along the lake shore, past orchards and vineyards, interspersed with towns and then the suburbs of Toronto. I then have a 5 minute walk from the train station to an office tower, where I work on the 9th floor.

I'm quickly realizing that anything but a flat or low wedge shoe will not work. My pointy toe BCBG shoes are getting constant wear, so I am going to invest in some more comfy flats, starting with the silver pointy toe loafers below. I hope I'm not too late for this trend! I think they will work nicely with what I have now, and I see wearing them with winter white. They are leather and from Towne Shoes and are comfy right out of the box. I also couldn't resist this cognac and coral/red bag from Danier. The tote style works better than any other for me, and I am able to slip my lunch bag inside as well as my iPad or Kobo or magazine once I removed the snap in pouch/divider. Cognac always works for me, and I'm still not over colour blocking!

I donated the navy blue Louben trousers that just weren't working for me. I think they were too large (size 12) and high waisted. I'm giving these BR Martin cut (size 6!) suit trousers (cotton and other fabrics) a trial. They fit lower on the hip and have a long inseam :-). Finally PPL?!

After a no buy June, purchases are still modest for July. I need to schuss out the Big City style trends and learn where the good shops are.

(Shopping suggestions from folks who know downtown Toronto would be welcomed!)
