Couldn't resist the winter sales...

I know my self proclaimed goal was a better summer wardrobe, but I just couldn't resist the winter sale going on... But I guess not all of these might work out, so we'll see. These were all around 50-75% off.

Black skirt made out of modal. Easy to dress up and down? Won't be here in time for the birthday though. Let's hope the other skirt (#5) works out. Should work well with bare legs and sandals too (same as the other skirt btw).

I know I said no more plaid but this might be the perfect replacement for my two lower quality plaid wool skirts. And I love the colors. Depends on fit and length, of course.

Wool and cashmere mix. Looks light blue in the picture, but the color is called sage green - so it depends how it turns out IRL. Maybe a nice light colored layer for warmth in spring and summer, as an alternative to my dark grey cardigan?

I don't really need another wool pullover, but this was so inexpensive I thought it worth a try. And all my other pullovers are solids. Might be nice to have a pattern when I wear a pullover with jeans and boots or sneakers.

The skirt came back in stock a size down and is already on its way. Hopefully it truly runs a bit smaller...

There ARE a lot of winter sales.

Some great choices Astrid. You can never have too much plaid And I love the look of the fabric in the last skirt. The striped sweater will definitely be a useful casual addition. Fingers crossed that they all work out for you.

These look like excellent choices. And there really is a lot of winter left! That pullover is very pretty; it's also my preference to put a pattern with jeans.

The sales are pretty amazing at a lot of places right now.

I like all the skirts, and if they fit, they could all be smart additions to your wardrobe. I'm especially keeping fingers and thumbs crossed for #5.

The sweater in #4 looks so pretty in the pictures. If the fabric is soft and non-itchy, and the stripes fall in the right place, it could be a workhorse with jeans and boots because those colours are so good on you. The sweater in #3 is a bit of a wildcard, though. I've always found those "basic" cardigans need the colour and fit to be spot on to work in my wardrobe. It's good you'll have the opportunity to check it out before making your final decision. Good luck.

These are great finds. The sweaters are great pick-me ups for midwinter, with a bit of cozy color. Let us know how they work out!

Nice picks Astrid! I'm particularly fond of #2-4 for your style (plaid skirt is super and seems very you; light cardi would be a great alternative to dark gray on some days; and I think you'll have fun with the stripey sweater). Also love the idea of #5 as a dressier-fun-printed skirt. #1 I am unsure of; seems like a spring weight if it's modal? Could have excellent drape, or could be extra clingy.

I especially like the plaid skirt in the 2nd pic; the colors look rich and beautiful, and moreover, it looks warm.

Gaylene, agree that the cardigan needs to be just right to work out. But I can return all of these, so no problem. I've also ordered the plaid skirt and the striped pullover in two sizes because I was unsure.

Diana, it's Toast not Boden, but yes. I really hope it will work.

Aida, skirt #1 is probably more for spring, summer and fall than winter, but reviews said the fabric was nice with a bit of weight to it. Hopefully that's true.

Windchime, the plaid skirt is 100% wool, so I guess it will be warm. I've become a huge fan of wool...

The skirt in #5 didn't work out, still much too big. I'm going to return it. BUT I found the perfect solution for a dressy outfit with very little shopping left to do. More in another thread soon.

I'm going to use this thread to update on the other pieces once they arrive.

Everything besides the black skirt came today and it is all going back. The plaid skirt was cut both too straight and too short, the cardigan's color was kind of a warm mint green and the striped pullover was cut too boxy. Not worth taking pictures... Ah well - good for my wallet I suppose.

The black skirt is on back-order and supposed to ship in two weeks.
