Could you see me in this dress?

I'm going back again and again to this Boden dress. I just love the pattern and cut and if the colors are like they're pictured it would be the perfect green on me. Now Boden has free shipping and 20% off until midnight and I'm seriously thinking about ordering the dress.

But - is it too retro for my style? Could you see me in this one?

Please help!

That's not the same dress in the two pictures, is it? The first is much more retro than the second, because of the pattern I suspect.

I *could* see you in either dress... I'd probably like the second on you better.

It is the same dress! I've added a picture below. But I agree that the pattern makes it look different. I'm not sure if I like the big pattern of the two below as well as the other one though.

I'm new here, so don't know enough about your style to advise you, but I wanted to let you know that I have this dress in solid black and it is wonderful! I thought it might be too retro for me, but it is very flattering and I think it can be "funkified" with the right shoes and accessories.

Thank you so much for chiming in, Ann, as an owner of that dress! I've read the reviews (also for the other colors in the spring) and almost all were sold on it. You're right that shoes and accessories can really influence a look, maybe I should try it. Did you get your usual size? I'm also not sure if I should order a petite size. I think I'm going to search for my measuring tape now....

It's adorable, but Boden always tricks me with their adorable (as you are!) but super-tall ultra-skinny models. On me this would look like a housecoat. It's worth a try for sure, because I can see it fitting your style. I love the green - don't you have a green jacket in that color?

Thanks Una. Yes, that's something to keep in mind. This fit and flare could work well on me, but I can see how it may translate as housecoat. Yes, I have a cropped green denim jacket. Not sure if it's the same green, this one looks more turquoise on my screen.

I measured and the regular would be a midi on me (might work out and end up just under my knees), the petite hits more in the middle of the knees or slightly above. Not sure how exact this is though. As for the size, if I look at the sizing chart I would need a 38, but the garment measurements suggest that a 36 may suffice. How much room should I have?

I think it would all depend on the styling. It looks promising to me. Love the colors.

Asrid, I think the colors are really pretty on this dress and would look very nice on you. The cut of the dress I'm not totally sure about - it might be too much volume but it just depends. I think you can return easily with Boden, so if you are really drawn to it, I'd say try it!

Thanks Texstyle! I think I'm going to try it, you're right. I'm thinking about ordering both the 36 and the 38 for comparison. And in the regular length.
