Could you help me choose my colors?

Hi, I'm getting somewhat confused on which colors look best on me. Would you mind giving me your opinions? As far as I can tell, I have a yellow undertone to my skin. My hair is medium brown, tending towards auburn (the photos were taken in strong diffused natural daylight, which brings out the red). My eyes are green with a bit of yellow/amber, sometimes greyish or even bluish green.

I've always thought warm colors were right for me, but now I wonder if I should wear cool colors to balance out the warmth of my hair and yellow undertones of my skin. I'm confused on neutrals too. I'd appreciate any input!

my first instinct was to say that you are an Autumn. Then looking through the set, it does seem that the best colors were the brown, rust, and olive green, which would indeed make you an Autumn.

But, I could have been looking with a skewed eye after first pegging you an Autumn. What colors to you tend to get the most compliiments on?

You do want the colors you wear to enhance your skin coloring. When the colors you wear pick up on the colors in your skin, you look alive, as opposed to looking washed out. So no, if you have warm skin tones, you do not want to wear cool colors.

Thank you queenie! I recall being complimented on brown and peacock or teal blue. I thought I was an Autumn also, but now I wonder if I could be a Spring?

no worries- most of my stuff goes under body type because I never remember to change that before I hit enter.

I was kindof wondering about Spring too. You did look nice in that brighter blue. I do think it's possible to cross the seasons as well, although a purist would disagree.

You are definitely an Autumn, Kristine. But you're a cool Autumn - not a warm one like Jean (greenglove).

Your skin tones are yellow but you look good in tones with blue in them actually. You look best in that rusty burgundy and sea blue hue. Very pretty! You should also try muted purples and teal greens. Stay away from colours that are too acidic. Leave that to the Springs!

I've been doing quite a bit of reading and experimenting. I believe I've discovered I'm a soft autumn. A soft autumn looks best in softer version of autumn shades and is close to neutral, so cool and warm tones can work. I've been drawn to strong jewel tones or saturated spicy shades, but those overpower me. The best colors seem to be muted shades like soft teal, plum, rust, earthy browns and golds. I think the key is to stay away from extremes including black and pure white, unless I can modify them with accessories or layers.

This has been really interesting and helpful. Yesterday I wore a rust/burgundy sweater, but I softened it with a patterned blouse in blush pink and orange. It really gave me a nice glow (or maybe it was just warm in the office, ha ha).

I think I'm getting the hang of this and I'm looking forward to spring shopping!
