Costume Jewelry Edit - YouLookFab Forum

All the closet edits have inspired me My costume jewelry has gotten out of hand and I hardly wear most of it anymore. Life has changed. Also, I barely wear my nicer, “real” jewelry. And last year my 87-year-old mom told my sister and I (and our daughters) to take what we wanted of hers so now I really have no room. If I’m going to wear jewelry, I’ve decided it will be the “nicer” things, for the most part, which rarely come out to play. “If not now, when?”

But what to do with the stuff I’m getting rid of? I poked around online yesterday and found this organization mentioned in several places: I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation.

So I’ve boxed everything up and will mail it off tomorrow. Sharing in case anyone is interested. I just did not want all this stuff to end up in a landfill and I have too much on my plate right now to figure out if Goodwill/Salvation Army/other donation places near me will or won’t take it all.

Thank you, Aquamarine! I was stumped, knowing I needed to do a deep edit of my jewelry, as well as my late mother's jewelry, and not knowing what to do with the excess. I will be so happy to send it off to this group.

Yes, this is a great exercise and one I should do as well. I usually offer up pieces to my niece (who likes a lot of the same styles I do), and a local consignment shop. But I may also put some things on my local Buy Nothing group.

What a good idea! You will laugh, I wear my no longer worn jewelry one more time, wait for a compliment, and hand it over to someone who likes it.
But this is a bulk deal, and I do have a box to go. Keeping and wearing only a few good pieces and some of my mom’s stuff.

I just took about half of my jewelry to consignment, but if they hadn't taken it, some of the organizations like hospice have thrift shops. I'll probably edit again before the end of the year.

Sent off a heavy little box. My stepdaughter makes her own jewelry, my friends already took a few pieces they liked, and the rest is going to your charity.
It’s quite beautiful clutter, though. What a great idea.
