My favorite look was Thandie Newton's, but if you were to give me one of those dresses, I'd want Marion Cotillard's or Anna Wintour's. The Calvin Klein stark white dress is my least favorite.

I didn't really like Katy Perry's dress. The best, in my opinion, were Marion Cotillard and Taylor Swift.

I looked at this once again and although I love long hair, I have to agree that Renée Zellweger's hair looks beautiful. And... maybe the colours on my screen are a bit off, but Naomi Watts's dress is not fuchsia! Amaranth, maybe.

I really like Eva Mendes and Anna Wintour's outfits. Agree that Diane Kruegers was too minimalist. Very strongly disliked MIA!!!

I was disappointed by how much black was worn. Seriously: I love me a black dress but if I were a celeb with the choice of literally thousands of frocks, I'd try a different colour - even a different neutral! - for such a fashionable event.

What stood out for me:
Kate Perry -- I guess it is the "costume" institute, right? Pretty wild.
Jessica Alba -- love the Hollywood glam look
Renee Zellweger -- awesome hair!
Marion Cotilliard -- shimmery, beautiful.
Gisele Bundchen -- another "costumey" outfit, seems a bit fetishey? But the woven leatherwork is really cool.
Anna Wintour -- love the draping of her dress

Obviously I am the best dressed person at the Met, but they no longer allow staff to attend these events so you wouldn't know that. You will just have to trust me.

I don't like any of these to be honest. What is with the colors, or lack thereof?

I think the only one I liked was Carey Mulligan. My kind of dress, with a lower neckline and brighter purple.

And what is it with the crotch-high slits in some of these dresses? Not a fan. Not a fan at all.

MAggie Gyllenhall's dress wasn't dreadful but it fit her so badly/was so unflattering in the chest that I'm feel quite embarrassed on her behalf when I look at the photo...

LOVE Sienna Miller's shoes and would love the dress if it didn't expose quite so much. Renee's new hair cut really suits her well.

Angie, Taylor, another high five from me! Gwen's dress was my favourite too.

And, Maya, yes, what is the deal with the nasty crotch high center slits? I'm a little sleepy eyed and was wondering if it was really time for bed or if that really was a center slit in Emma Watson's dress. Ditto on Carey Mulligan's dress, one of the few that stood out for me. She looks SO good in that outfit!

Mac, As fas as I know black isn't the best option for this kind of events because it doesn't work well on TV, but there was many black dresses.
Didn't like Demi Moore dress either and that's suprising because she is always so elegant..

I liked Carey Mulligan's Miu Miu dress the best, she stood out in a sea of long gowns. I was disappointed by Emma Watson wearing Burberry, just looked a little tattered to my eye.
