Corset shirt and culottes potential purchase

I like the look of this corset shirt. I’d wear with culottes. I would welcome your thoughts. It would be for work which is quite formal and conservative work. It is quite different to the types of tops I normally wear, which isn’t a bad thing at all, but I’d need to be certainly very comfortable in wearing it.

I’m pear shaped with a quite compact top half and definite curves to my lower half.

That’s a very interesting shirt,the only problem I could see would be if you were very large busted as it might place more emphasis on this area than you would like but you ve indicated that is not the case.Have you tried it on?That really is the only way to know for sure whether it’s what you want or not.

Thank you Cardiffgirl. I haven’t tried it on yet - I’m thinking that I might order if YLF family thought it worth it. I’m pretty tiny up top and detailing looks better on my top half.

I find it very nice, associated with the culottes it would create a beautiful silhouette. I love the way the "balloon" sleeves (not sure that's the proper word) would balance the wider leg of the culotte. Somehow very Victorian.

Alright I am going to be honest.

I absolutely love the look of it. My single problem is that I first started seeing this look on the Kardashians. Now I have a very negative image of this look in my mind. So I personally will never be able to wear this particular look, but if you don't have the same negative connection, I certainly think it is worth a try.

Ignoring all my personal issues, I also wonder if this look is appropriate for a formal and conservative work place. I'll swing by later today to see what others think. Pushing the envelop is always interesting to me.

Thank you fabbers, a great range of views! Sterling, thank you for highlighting the Kardashians connection - yikes! But it would be good to push the envelope. I thought it had a bit of a Victoria vibe Aurore too.

Every so often I am in meetings with fashion retailers, and it would be good to have an outfit that I could wear that might do that for me.

There is quite a range of interpretations on this shirt though and because of that, it gives me a bit of concern. I tend to quite like clothes at work that aren't very statement like - and may be this is too strong a statement.

I think Kim K. is a pear too, so this might very well work for you.

I love that it provides a lot of structure up top and flows into the culottes. It would be very leg lengthening.

Is the blue part separate from the corset part?

I like it very much — personally I would find it a bit much for a conservative work environment, but that it because I am quite busty so this may be a little too much emphasis on that. The effect would be very different on someone with a more slight figure. I say try it!

I like it very much, so much so, that I was also thinking of trying the same shirt - as it is a new season arrival at the Australian Karen Millen. I think this looks fashion forward and fun. I would love to see it on you!
