I linked to this in another post and thought you may (or may not) appreciate the humour.

Most NZ men wear what I call Board Shorts at the beach I will add rather than Speedos/Budgie Smugglers except for surf lifesavers and competitive swimmers. See pic one.

However in the pool my DH and son wear funky trunks. Our friends in Oklahoma were horrified when they saw them, whereas here they are quite the in thing and ALL the boys and girls wear them.

Oh my god MY EYES.

Togs or undies, call them what you like, but they look like women's bikini bottoms. Mercifully the young man in the video has the body for it, at least. Out here, the only type of bloke you see wearing those grape-hugging scraps of hilarity (excluding competitive swimmers) are the older, hairy ones with beer bellies.

Oh this brings back a fond memory. My fiance used to joke a lot about getting into shape to wear a speedo on our annual winter vacation so last year, I bought him a speedo for Xmas. I bought it a size smaller than needed too because he did say he wanted to get into shape. He lost 20 lbs this summer so I might have to remind him to bring it to mexico.

This is so funny - it must be making the rounds on social media or something because the women behind the desk at the yoga studio yesterday were watching this and killing themselves laughing.

I think I'd blanch too if someone hopped into my pool wearing those tight little printed things - unless they had the body for it. As Aziraphale says, the only guys wearing those here , shouldn't be

Lyn, that was exactly what reminded me of this NZ TV advertisement.

On a post we were discussing leggings and length of shorts in different settings.

I was thinking how blended my settings are: I exercise in the park (in my shorts/leggings), then I have a coffee in a cafe in the same clothes, and then possibly may go to the supermarket before I head home. Or I teach children how to do the long jump in front of 30 parents, go to the pub afterwards.....So at what point do the leggings or shorts become inappropriate. I need a blanket rule like 300m from the park!!

My brother wears these things (the one who lives in Wellington). He's a bit of a ham, so I--we all-- thought it was a joke when he wore them up at my aunt's cottage here! Haha!

So he's not being an ironic hipster, then? Lols!
