I "happened" to buy 3 pairs of brown boots. I can keep none of them, all of them, or any number of them. I am getting more and more confused so decided that I will take 2 out of 3 and snap a few pictures. #3 will follow in a separate post, perhaps tomorrow (they are quite different in style and suede, not leather). Right now I have one pair of leather boots that I can tuck jeans in. Altogether, I have two pairs of tall riding boots for skirts and one pair of shorter black boots for tucking. I thought that it might be good to add boots for tucking jeans in and for more spring-like weather.

Pic#1 and the last one (#7) - the only shorter boots I currently have (black Dolce Vita Storm). The "flaps" tend to come apart a bit so they look kind of slouchy and not very sleek, at least from the front (as in pic#1, front view).

#2, 6 - Cole Haan boots. I had them before, returned because I was not sure about the fit, and re-ordered them because I did not like anything else. Pricey but good quality, not very soft.

#3-5 - new Matisse boots. On sale ($39). Very soft. Lighter than Cole Haans. I tried them with skinny cobalt jeggins and straight leg cobalt jeans, dark skinnies, and under trousers.

I thought that it might be a good idea to get lighter boots for bookending with lighter tops. However, it looks like they do not create a very sleek leg line with dark denim. I am also not sure how they look under trousers.

Any thoughts?

Edited to add: I added one more picture comparing current owned boots (black) with the new Matisse boots (taupe). Is it my imagination or do the lighter boots fit a bit better?
