Confessions of a crazy print lover

I love crazy prints - especially in full skirts. The latest is a J Crew pineapple print. It's at least a different color scheme the most of my others. (Blues and greens mostly). I love it, but I think my wardrobe has enough skirts. My wardrobe space is small. But I won't stop dreaming about it, and may go back and buy in a moment of weakness, if my size makes it to go on sale. I did leave the store without it, which is a win.
For fun, I tried on the dress version, but I think it's a bit too naked on top for my age and lifestyle, though I liked the look. There is also a top, but it was too ruffled for my tastes. I didn't try it on.
Does anyone else have similar trouble resisting fun prints? How much is too much! Bonus - I'm including the fun skirt I had on yesterday as a find.

I am wearing something completely different today, much more minimalist and with not a print in sight. I think this may be more the direction my wardrobe is going in, but I can't quit the pineapples either.

Crazy prints could be your 'signature' style. The colors look great with your dark hair. I hope you can find the skirt in your size on sale. If you find the dress instead, you could wear a top like the white one you have on with the skirt over the top of the dress so that it functions like a skirt. A white denim jacket would also look good with the dress and give coverage.

I think this style of pattern has become a definite signature on me, Angie. I'd probably hesitate less over the pineapples if I hadn't shopped so much in the past month or so, since this season was just a great fit for my current style preferences (though in some ways not - ruffles, bleh.)

I do love summer clothes, many of which can't be worn to work very easily, even at my semi-casual workplace. That's why I favor the skirt here, since I dress skirts like that for work all the time. Joy your ideas are good for covering it up, though.

A lot of J Crew fans are bemoaning all the fruit motifs this season, but I have a feeling this print will start to sell out, so I'm going to keep an eye to see if the skirt makes it to sale.

The dress looks fabulous on you, btw. But you are right that it is slinky on top. I think it would be nice with a cropped jean jacket or jean vest for date night

I like fun prints too, particularly animal ones, meaning you can recognize the whole animal not an animal print. But I also like household items (I had an eyeglass shirt), fruit (I am wearing a strawberry shirt), what have you.

catseye I'm also a big critter print fan. I also like sweaters with animals on them. I also got a J Crew skirt with berries on it earlier in the year.

The other type of print I like shows places, like the skirt I posted in the original post's finds, or a dress I have from Boden that's a vintage seaside print. I also have a skirt with Venice on it.

Maybe it's just that fashion has gotten more fun than a few years ago.

I remember some skirts with crazy prints that I loved in the 80s and 90s. So though I hardly have any (very) crazy prints today, I can understand your fascination for skirts like these. And I may want to get one again. I like the ones you have chosen here. However, I am curious about how you would style them.

The Cat, I wore the blue skirt above with the top I'm wearing in the pineapple picture. I'm not much of a pattern mixer, but I liked that. As for the pineapple, I am thinking a plain solid tee or tank with metallic sandals.

That said, I just pulled out my summer clothes and can see that I have more spring and summer skirts than I can reasonably wear, and too many that I love and don't want to pass on. Given my tiny NYC wardrobe space, not sure I should add another unless I can bring myself to cull more than one from the current selection.

Agree that simple styling will probably be best. Let the skirt be the hero.

By the way, I am impressed about how much you have already collected and achieved despite being only 17 (according to your comment in the terribly long "Who's Who?" thread)

I'm terrible typist and also terrible at proofreading on screens - oddly enough since I taught writing for years. I proofread much better on paper, even though I'm at a screen all day for my work.

Looks like I can't change it now

I noticed you were 17 too but realised you weren't really with the job, the partner etc from the pics and posts! And even though you look young and attractive, maybe not 17!
I love your crazy prints. Not sure how much I have worn such in the past, very bright colours yes. I sympathise about the culling. That's my issue too. I want ALL the bright colours and florals and coloured shoes! Then my wardrobe explodes and I can't do the 30 wears. I am using a lot of restraint but cannot resist going into shops to look.

Don't worry, Christina F. It happens to us all sometimes. And because said thread is so terribly long, I guess that few people will have enough patience to try to search for any others than relatively new members there. (New members can, possibly, be found at the end of the thread.) Those who do find you there, will likely be impressed, like me.

Hoping to get some more info about this interesting, crazy-prints-loving (and, referring to you icon photo, presumably also hats-loving) person, I first clicked at your profile. But unfortunately, I found nothing there, except for the info that you signed up recently. Then I found you in the "Who's Who?" thread. But otherwise, I seldom look at that thread. I think it is much easier to just click at a profile. And I encourage all fabbers to put at least some info into their profiles. As you may (or may not) have seen, I actually wrote a post a week ago called "Enjoy reading your profiles." You will find it in the General category.

Jenni thanks also for the kind words. I believe I look young for my age, but not 20 years younger. I just got haircut and so I took a selfie (in my very hot apartment) so you can see that I look at least 25

I'm going to try to cull a bit this weekend. Let's see how it goes!
