Just in case anyone needs a laugh, I thought I would share what happened to me today:)

My iPhone, which I am very dependant upon, fell in the toilet!!

It got wet!

It's not working!

It's 'resting' in a bag of rice!

DH is not amused!

Thankfully I don't rely on my phone for YLF and I do have everything syncd to my iPad so no loss of information.

Lyn, I was at our shopping centre (small version of Chadstone) doing a promotion for my work. My bag was locked away so I put my phone in my back jeans pocket (something I NEVER do) and forgot it was there until it flipped out as I prepared to take a seat on the throne. I heard a noise like something had dropped, turned around and it's in the loo. I fished it out and sat down and without realising said a couple of time "oh no", the lady in the next stall asked me if I was ok...can't imagine what she was thinking was wrong...and I had to tell her I was fine but my phone was in the toilet lol

Waving at toilet twin! I did exactly this same thing 2 months ago - the darn thing flipped out of the back pocket.
Happy to report that it works again. I put it in the rice and knew not to try and power it on. It was glitchy for a couple of days but now works like a charm.

At least it was not an automatic flush toilet! My friend dropped her driver's license in on of those.... At the airport no less. When she got up and turned around to fish it out... Flush. Whoops.

I find those accidents always happen when I've done something that I "never do" -- it's crazy how we try to keep our things safe only to wind up wrecking them!

Oh no! I almost did that same thing recently, but the phone fortunately fell on the floor, not in the loo. Mental note: do not put phone in back pocket!

Hope it recovers. I spilled water on my laptop a few months ago, and immediately shut it off, turned it upside down to let any water run out, and popped it in a huge bag of rice. I waited three days to be absolutely sure it was dry before firing it up again...and it worked! I hope your phone does too!

Oh, Deborah, I've never done that but came close at least a few times. One reason I'm now super-cautious is because this has happened repeatedly with my sister (who is a very intelligent woman). Somehow we all have our scatter-brain Achilles heel, and that must be it for her. Had to have happened at least a few times to her, including instances where...I don't want to go into too much detail, LOL. So don't be too hard on yourself, and tell hubs to give you a pass on this one.

I once witnessed this happening to a lady in the next stall. That was right before a road race, and I am assuming she was planning to use it as an MP3 player while running. She was very sad... I hope your phone is OK.

I did exactly the same thing. I let it rest in a bag of rice for about 3 days. It still didn't work. The repair people said I should have left it in the rice for a
week. I had to get a new phone.

Well how nice it is to know that I am not the only person who has ever done this:) I was hoping to slip the sim into my old blackberry but ofcourse the iPhone has the mini sim. My contract is just up so my lovely DH will be follow up a new phone for me

Side pockets do the same thing. And boys who wear those loose jeans shouldn't store their phones in them while riding those wild carnival rides that turn the riders upside down. Yes, an acquaintance's son did this with poor results. I doubt he was even permitted to retrieve the fallen phone.

PHEW !!! I am so glad that you backed up. I drowned mine this summer when I spilled a bottle of water onto my bag. I almost cried. It was pathetic. Thankfully, Apple had been tracking me and I had an iCloud account that I was not aware of. Thank God, the one time I was happy to be "followed'.

May I make a suggestion ? Lifeproof, it is AWESOME. Waterproof up to 10 feet. And it works. I took it kayaking and took pics with my iPhone ! Supposedly, one can take iPhone pics underwater with it.

Mine sat in rice for 2 weeks. I was in deep denial. My 10 year old would hold my hand and say, "Mama, it is dead. I am sorry, but it is the truth !" LOL

That's so funny. I've dropped a cell phone in a glass of beer at soccer/football game. Of course, the phone died. AND, I recently dropped my IPhone on the floor and broke the screen. NOthing works. Luckily the new Iphones are coming out in a few weeks. I just need to get on the wait list.

Oh no! I'm hoping a brand new phone is in the picture for you. My son when mud-sliding at college during Hurricane Sandy (boys!), and the rice treatment worked like a charm for him.

Well the phone is still in the rice but no sign of life. It looks like it may end up being a play phone for Master 10! We did get a new phone yesterday. Like a lot of you, I am sure, my life is in my phone and it's a management tool. The back up worked 90% and I have all of my contacts and my diary but I seem to have 'lost' my style book app (and contents) and my YLF app?!? I thought I might message Greg for some advice, though I really don't mind repurchasing the App.

The plus side is that I was able to get the white iphone, which I find quite attractive (for a phone) !
