Comfortable pumps/heels?

Hi gang. I'm looking for comfortable taupe or nude pumps/heels to wear with skirts and dresses in the spring and summer. I bought two pairs last year and neither was comfortable after about 2 hours. Hoping to find better pairs this year. Any suggestions?

I have an old pair of Salvatore Ferragamo pumps that I love and another Ralph Lauren pair. More often, it's the heel height and natural leather that gives me the most comfort. I don't like the feel and comfort of patent. I agree that some of the newer technology with flex insoles and softer footbeds and linings add to this, as well. Hope you find a pair!

Several on here, including Angie, rave about the Sam Edelman Okala ankle strap heels. I was lucky enough to find a pair of nude Okalas at a Nordstrom Rack for $59 -- I've actually seen nude patent and black patent at two different Rack stores. They are amazingly comfortable! I haven't worn them out yet, but I waked around the store for a good 10 minutes and felt like dancing in them.

Not sure about your price point or your heel height preference/ need, but I find if I'm going to wear a show all day, I prefer a heel under 3 inches- with a 1.5-2 inch being the sweet spot. As for brands,my go to's are Stuart Weizmann and Kate spade. I've had good luck with some Michael kors, but it's been a while since I've bought anything new. Same with Cole Hanhs. I have the okala's Ann mentions above, and for me they are 4 hour shoes, which just shows how personal shoes are, and what works for some won't work for all.

Definitely a personal thing - do you have a shoe brand that you usually have good luck with? I've got a pair of Cole Haan nude heels that I like but I also had a pair from Payless that did just fine for a couple of years. I agree with Vicki, patent isn't my favorite because it doesn't breathe as well.

My personal cut off for heel height is two and a half inches. And if you don't need pumps for formality reasons, wedges can be almost as dressy and a lot more comfortable for walking/standing all day.

I'll second Rachy. I have had these nude pumps for three years, and I've done my 1.25 mile commute both ways in them a few times (plus 8 hours of sitting at desk/walking to lunch/meetings). I think they look better in person than in the online pic.

I also have the nude Okalas, and while they are super comfortable, they're much more sensitive to my urban environment (I am hard on shoes), so I prefer to wear them on driving days. They would be a great choice for weddings and parties.

Unlike most on here, iI do not look at price or only get ex pensive shoes. Two of my most comfy heels were under $50.00. Three of my expensive ones went out last spring with the big purge. Yo u just have to keep an open mind and if ordering on line be sure of the return policy.

Thanks for the great suggestions. To answer some of the questions/replies:

* I am on a budget, but I don't mind spending a little extra for comfort and for a shoe that lasts. I wouldn't want to spend more than $150 or $200 though.

* I don't think the Okala ankle strap heel will work for daily work. I work in a hospital. I just can't see running around the wards in those. They are gorgeous though. I may buy them for social events.

* I like the Payless shoes a great deal. I wish the heel wasn't so high (I prefer not to wear over 2 inches for work), but they're so inexpensive that I'm considering giving them a go just to see how they feel. A while back, I had a pair of Payless Comfort Plus pumps in black (2 inch heel) that I ADORED. Unfortunately, after two years of wear, they became so scuffed up that I figured I'd throw them out and just buy another pair. I haven't been able to find another pair I like as much, though I did find another pair of black pumps that work.

* Always Trying, where did you find your two most comfortable shoes that you wrote about? What was the brand(s)?

I'd be curious as to what you find. My feet are finicky, but in the past I've had good luck with Naturalizer (wide width) and Sofft.

Naturalizer is a good thought. They always have cute but comfortable heels.

Cole Haan has a bunch of shoes in a color called maple sugar that I really like. I ordered a suede pair from their website that were lovely but defective, so I returned. Planning to re order something.

My most comfortable heels ever are Bella Vita (photo) I got mine on amazon but 6 pm had them too at about $20.00 more. another pair of heels are from Famous Footwear brand M. Patrick. They were only about $29.00 on sale. another pair of pumps that stay on my feet and go over my bunion are Me Too that were a lucky find from Marshalls. They were probably more at other places, but I get lucky sometimes at marshalls. When I want shoes I just hunt everywhere. I have a pair of dressy sandals and an old pair of real leather booties from Payless that I love, and plan to keep forever. The boots have had heels re done as I have worn them a really lot, but the sandals only got worn maybe 2 times a year, and I have had them about 3 years.The heels in the photo I bought last year for a Christmas party. Stood and walked for about 4 hours in them and was so surprised at how happy my fee were.

I've had well wearing and comfortable Naturalizers and Hush Puppies. I have a few pairs that are ten years old and still going strong. Never a moment's discomfort, even when walking a lot.
