Comfortable ankle boots

I'm looking for comfortable ankle boots with a small heel to wear with skirts and dresses. I have to walk a bit for my job, over rough sidewalks and I am a bit clumsy, so those tiny stick heels just won't do. But also, I know that the thick clunky heels wont look the best with my skirts, so I'm at a standstill.

I need a well made bootie that still looks sexy but feels like grandma's shoes! I've been looking at a certain pair of Tsubos, but I can't seem to find many reviews - and I'm on the fence about whether the slit is cute, will make them dated in a year or so, or make them look like Peter Pan's shoes.

Von, I have Tsubos booties from a few years ago that are very comfortable with about a 2 inch heel. The problem with them (the style) now is that they gape at the ankle instead of a sleek fit. It's a good, well made brand and worth a try.

Thanks Joy - I love the look of the Nine West the best, but my wide toes would hate me within an hour! I may just have to give the Tsubos a good try, Over the years I have become a collector of pretty shoes I just can't walk in, and I know the NW boots would fall victim. (I can feel a major shoe purge coming on!) I didn't know there was a YLF store...off to browse!

Are Clarks avaiable where you are? Last fall I got a pair of Clarks booties with a 1 1/2 to 2" heel and they are awesomely comfortable and walkable, fit my wide feet, and I instantly fell in love with the look with pencil skirts (whereas usually my eye is slow to adjust to a new silhouette). I can't tell you the model name, because I got it on a deep discount so I couldn't find it online anymore! but they have many similar styles out there, to the point that I start to order and think wait, I already have something like that.

I just got these booties ...haven't decided if I am keeping them or not yet, but I think they look good with skirts & dresses. With my fussy feet I have to let some things go!

They come in various widths and in black or taupe.

I ended up with the brown patent, though now find myself wondering if I should have gotten the bronze snake print instead. From walking around the house I find them to be very comfortable. I signed up for online coupons at Sierra Trading Post and ended up getting them for about $45 plus shipping.

Also the Munro Robyns (come in many colours) are SUPER comfortable. They look a bit "granny" on the website, but not on the foot. Several of us on YLF have bought them and are wearing happily. I swear mine feel like slippers except they have a heel.

They fit but I think they might run a little small. I haven't decided if I am going to try a different size yet. They don't have as much padding as I would like but I think they still might be good.

Suz, I think you're right about the Munros. I went shoe browsing yesterday and passed them twice - they just did not jump out at me at all. When the salesman suggested they may fit my foot better, I gave them a go. I actually like the way they looked better than any other the others at the shop. I'm still going to try the Clarks, but these are now a definite contender!

If the Munros fit you, those have a lot more padding than the Walking Cradles. Unfortunately the Munros were too narrow and too wide for me - how can that be?!?
