I KNOW! Why are comedy points so hard to get?!? Not that my badges mean anything to me (((shining badges))).
Honestly, I take people at face value and prefer to live my life that way (says the lawyer, which is crazy, right?). But for me, my professional life is different from my personal life. I get paid to be suspicious and I figure I get all that out of my system in the professional setting, which leaves me free to be positive in my personal life. My husband has commented that he thinks people don't know how to take me because I am relatively guileless in my non-work personal interactions. Not stupid. Not naive. I just generally prefer to think that people aren't loading things up with a lot of hidden subtext. That isn't the same as saying that I don't appreciate sarcasm (I find it roaringly funny, indulge in it often and live in the city of sarcasm, Portlandia). Anyhow, I guess that was a really long route to saying that I really appreciate comedy awards when I get them and I've always assumed that people mean well when they give them. And that's how I want to live my life. Feel free to smiley face the heck out of me.
